1. | A THIEF'S BEGINNING

Before you read this, I highly
recommend you read the
prologue first to know what's going on.

"So...What's the first thing you're gonna do once we're on earth?" Finn asked his cellmate as he stopped pacing and moved back to the bottom bunk of their bed. Above him was Raina, sat crisscrossed and absently toying with the hem of the blanket. Raina thought on it for a second, then raised forward to where she was hanging upside down and facing Finn.

"Cut your hair." She answered, a smirk finding its way onto her face. Finn pouted.

"I was being serious."

"So was I." Raina tilted her head, still viewing him from an upside down perspective. "Remember when we were little, we said if we went to earth, you wanted to be a vet because of all of the animals and I wanted to be an detective?"

"You wanted to solve crimes." He added with a smile. "I doubt that's gonna be an option, though." He then frowned and Raina raised up, the blood rushing back down to its original places. "If we even survive at all."

"Your optimism is killing me here, Athena." He retorted, using the childhood nickname. Raina's known Finn since they were both seven when he bumped into her at the library after she bought a book on Greek Myths. (Hence the nickname Athena.) From then on, the two were inseparable. It was coincidental that they both were placed in the same cell.

"What about you, Spacewalker?"

"Hm?"

"What's the first thing you're gonna do on earth?" She asked, genuinely curious for his response. He was always the adventurous type.

"I don't know." The boy answered. He stood up, leaning his body against the bed rail. "But I am not letting you cut my hair. That's for sure."

"Oh come on, I know there's mirrors in here but if you could see it, you'd want it cut too." She retorted, even though she was being serious, he smiled.

"It's not that, Athena. I just don't trust you that close to my head with a sharp object." He shot jokingly and Raina smacked his arm. She had forgotten that the only thing keeping her from falling off the bed was her grip on the metal rail and she just let go of it to slap Finn.

Raina screamed as she reached for the railing but missed it by a mere second. Her foot had somehow tangled in the sheets, which was ultimately what kept her from falling. Raina grabbed part of the railing, but was now upside down and stuck in an awkward angle.

"Finn?" She asked, slightly moving her head to see him, arms crossed with a amused smile on his face. "Help."

"Nah. I think I'll just stand here." He responded. Raina could feel her grip weaken.

"Finn! Please!" She cried. She didn't know how many feet up she was but no matter how high, landing head-first was going to hurt.

"Take the comment back about my hair." Finn offered and Raina inwardly scoffed. "Seriously?"

"You want help or not?"

"Yes!" Her foot was slipping now. "Your hair is fine, even if you're starting to look like Rapunzel now." Raina couldn't see him but heard Finn take a few steps and hold his arms out. "I'll catch you."
