10 | THE INNOCENT AND THE NOT SO INNOCENT
Everything felt numb. From the second the three words entered her ears and registered in her mind, it was like a switch turned. She couldn't speak, she couldn't move, she couldn't breathe, she couldn't blink but oh did her mind run with a million questions all at once; How was the boy who she spoke to just the night before dead? What happened? How'd it happen? Did he suffer? Who did it?
Why?
"No." Raina simply spoke. Finn stood before her, ready to shake her to pull her from the deep end after he told her Wells was dead. He was slightly taken aback by her response. "No." She repeated again. "He's not dead. I talked to him last night. He can't be...He..."
"I'm sorry, Raina, but he is." Finn said slowly, knowing now he was threading on thin ice. "They found his body this morning."
Raina dropped herself to the makeshift cot, struggling to believe what she was hearing but nonetheless, she was. After a few beats of silence and Finn joining her side, she spoke up again.
"How'd it happen?"
"He was stabbed in the throat. It was the grounders." Finn answered truthfully.
"Oh my God..." She breathed, holding her head in her hands. Finn scooted closer, throwing a comforting arm around her. "I know. I'm sorry, R."

Three days had passed since the death of Wells Jaha and slowly but surely, Raina was starting to process it. Clarke was the one who took it the hardest, obviously because she was the one out of them all who knew Wells the most. Raina visited her tent to check up on her and they both talked. Apparently Wells had told her before he died about the actual reason her father was floated; which Raina was relieved for so she didn't have to carry the burden of that.
But now, Raina was in her own tent that she and Finn shared when Bellamy opened that flap and told her she was needed for a talk concerning Wells' death. And by the look on Bellamy's face, it wasn't good.
Raina reached Bellamy's tent, entering to see Jasper, Octavia, Bellamy and Clarke surrounding a table.
"What's happening?" She asked. They all shared a look before Bellamy spoke up.
"O and Jasper found a knife and the two missing fingers from Wells outside the camp."
"But it wasn't grounders." Clarke added. "It was one of us." She held up the knife and Raina took it, examining it closely.
"I recognize this...It's Murphy's." She handed it back to Clarke.
"We need to keep this quiet." Bellamy piped. Clarke started to exit the tent when Bellamy stepped in front of her.
"Get out of my way, Bellamy." Clarke warned.
"Clarke, be smart about this." Bellamy started. "Look at what we've achieved. The walls, the patrols. Like it or not, thinking the grounders killed Wells is good for us."
"Oh good for you, you mean." Clarke interrupted. "What? Keep people afraid and they'll work for you? Is that it?"
"Yeah. That's it." He stated without missing a beat. "It's good for all of us."
