breath·ing
ˈbrēT͟HiNG/
noun
1. the process of taking air into and expelling it from the lungs. The chest rises and falls; an In and Out motion.
I've been in this mood lately
In this slump
That I can't get out of
And it makes things hard to breathe
In fact
I'm not sure I even know how to
It's been so long since I've taken a breath
That I have forgotten how to breathe
In
And out
In
And out
Not these sharp and ragged breaths
Like I have been taking
But deep and calm
That's how you breathe
In
And out
In
And out
Calm
And deep
That's
How you breathe
But know one seems to notice
That I walk slower
That I've become quieter
Because all my focus is on how to breathe
In
And out
In
And out
No one seems to notice
That everything I'm asked
Seems to weigh a thousand pounds
Making it hard for me to breath
In
And out
In
And out
But don't you see
All these things weighing down on me
I just want some peace
So I can breathe
In
And out
In
And out
Because even the simplest question
Makes me a kindergartner in a calculus math class
Totally lost and utterly confused
All my focus on how to breathe
In
And out
In
And out
All I want is to leave this world behind
So I can have a some peace of mind
Could you leave me be
So I can actually breathe
In
And out
In
And out
1 hour
2 hours
3 hours
4 hours
But that's not enough
That will never be enough
I can breathe when I'm alone
But when I leave the peace and relief of silence
Then this simple process
That I've been doing effortlessly for the past couple hours
Suddenly becomes a complicated problem
That I can't solve
Though really
It hasn't changed at all
And my mind
Suddenly get confused
"Wait... What? How... How do you breathe again?"
