Sorry in advance for the huge time gap :/
---
My mom and I left on Wednesday. We were driving three hours to go to Haley's for Thanksgiving. Her and Adam moved into a condo together. They couldn't decide between an apartment or a house so they decided on a condo, although I think an apartment would work fine. Adam's parents were coming over as well.
We arrived early Thursday morning. We knocked on their door and Adam gladly opened it.
"Hey." He smiled.
My mom hugged him and I just side hugged him.
"Where's Haley?" I ask.
"She's asleep." He said.
"Oh, well happy Thanksgiving." I smile.
"Happy Thanksgiving." He said.
He showed us around the condo, which wasn't that small. There was two bedrooms, including the master. My mom, Adam and I were sitting at the counter admiring their home.
"Are they already here?" Haley called from the hallway.
"Yes, they got here half an hour ago." Adam said.
Haley walked into the kitchen and smiled. I stood up to hug her.
"When are your parents getting here?" She asked.
"Around one." He looked at his watch.
"M'kay." She yawned.
"Tired?" He asked.
"Yeah. I wasn't feeling too good when I woke up and I've been craving donuts for like a week now." She said randomly.
"I could go get a dozen for all of us." He suggested.
"That'd be great, Hun." Haley smiled and pecked his cheek.
"Didn't you just have donuts on Monday?" He asked.
"No, I was with Jess and we got them on Saturday." She said.
Adam shrugged and left to go to the donut shop.
"I've been craving donuts, tacos, and slurpees lately." She said and furrowed her eyebrows.
"If I'm correct you had your period last week, right?" Mom asked.
"Mom!" Haley's eyes widened.
"Well?" She asked again.
"I haven't, but I'm assuming it'll be any day now." Haley said.
"Alright." Mom said.
That was weird, she never asks me if I've had my period. She probably notices and just doesn't need to ask.
"Remind me again, how long have you and Adam been together?" Mom asked.
"A year and eight months." She said poured a glass of water for herself.
"Right, right. You guys have made bacon, right?" My mom said in a hushed tone.
What does that even mean?
"Ew, mom. Is that what you call it?" Haley made a sour face.
Oh, I get it.
"Well, have you, Y'know...." Mom trailed off.
"Gross, Sam's right here." Haley said.
"I know everything." I say.
"Alright well obviously we have, we're not going to wait until we're married." She mumbled.
"Just wondering." Mom said defensively.
There was a silence, Haley took a drink of her water.
"You're on birth control?" Mom broke the silence.
Haley almost spit out her water.
"Is this necessary?" Haley asked.
"Fine, I'll just say it. With you having a late period, not feeling good, and food cravings I was thinking maybe you're pregnant." My mom raised her voice.
My jaw dropped. Haley set down her water and looked worried.
"Mom, I can't be pregnant. I... I wanted to get my bachelors degree before I get married and let alone have kids! I want a future so I can properly raise kids. Mom, I can't be pregnant! What if I am? What'll Adam think? What'll his parents think? They already were on the edge of us moving in together and it's been over a year and a half. They want us to have nice jobs and a house before we have kids. Mom, I can't be pregnant!" She began to cry.
Mom stood up and hugged her. She stroked her hair and shushed her.
"Well for now how about this. Adam doesn't have to know about our suspicion, if you don't want. Avoid alcohol-" mom was cut off.
"Mom Adam and I went out for dinner last night and I had two glasses of wine." Haley said.
"It probably won't make a difference." Mom said, unsure.
I was still sitting with my jaw hanging open.
"Just stay away from wine and stuff. You and I can leave and go to a pharmacy for a test. You'll even take it in their bathroom. Once we know for sure we come back and act like nothing happened." Mom said.
Haley might have been overreacting, how would I know though? I can see where she was worried. I would want to graduate college, too. Mom also has a way of making people overly worried about the smallest things.
"Ok..." Haley calmed down.
She went to the bathroom and washed her face, it didn't even look like she had just shed a few tears. Haley walked back right as Adam came in the door. We ate all of the donuts, Haley and I had the most.
I just realized that Haley is on the volleyball team, she can't just get pregnant during a season. I really hope she isn't pregnant, but if she is I'll love my niece or nephew just the same as a planned pregnancy.
Mom and I were helping them clean before his parents came over. If you were wondering, we were having thanksgiving at our house but since they moved were eating here. Adams parents were going to his older brothers, but his wife's uncle was hosting their dinner.
An accidental pregnancy isn't uncommon, really. I was an accident, so was Lucas and Tay and I think Cassie.
Mom and Haley left to go get "an ingredient or two" for the turkey. They were getting that and obviously a pregnancy test.
"Rumor has it you make amazing cheesy potatoes." Adam said while I was sitting at the counter on my phone.
"You want me to make cheesy potatoes?" I ask.
"If you want." He said.
"I love cooking those." I perk up.
I stood and began searching the cabinets. They had all the ingredients I needed. I began to prepare them and they went in the oven with the turkey Adam prepared. Haley and mom showed up right when all the food went in. They casually sat around so that Adam wouldn't be suspicious. Eventually Haley told me she wanted to show me something so I followed her. We went in the bedroom and closed the door.
"Negative." She smiled.
Relief swept over me and I hugged her tight.
"Since it'll be suspicious if we walk straight back after ten seconds let's talk for a few." She said.
"Alright." I smile.
"How's it going between you and Lucas?" She smirked.
"Great. We've gone on like five dates so far and we went to each other's games. I was at the championship football game, which they won. He went to the volleyball one and we won but it was a really competitive game. One set we won 27-25, we were tied at 25 point each but we pulled through. I was the game winning serve." I smile.
"You guys have kissed more than just homecoming night, right?" She asks.
"Yeah, plenty of times." I shrug.
"You guys are too cute. I've been keeping up with your posts and with your best friend, boyfriend, and volleyball you look like you're having a pretty good time." She laughed.
"Yeah." I say.
"Have you two proclaimed love?" She said in a funny way.
"No. I think we both know that couples who say it within the first week end up losing their meaning and break up. Basically we both know that it's better to wait a month or two to say it. I think he'll say it soon but I don't know." I shrug.
We went back to cleaning the kitchen. I was so happy that her pregnancy was a false alarm.
