"And then she asked if I was a virgin." I whisper to Tay, hoping no one would hear us at the mall.
"My mom has asked me that, too. Numerous times, even. Basically each time we spent the night she'd ask. She's not opposed to it, apparently. She's just curious." She rolls her eyes.
"It's like asking me if I'm a lesbian every time I have a sleepover with you guys." I say in annoyance.
"Exactly." Tay said.
"It was so awkward." I shake my head, thinking about this morning.
I came to the mall with Tay to buy something she needed. I don't know, I just agreed to tag along.
"I'm hungry, wanna go to the food court and get pizza. I'm starving." She said and held her stomach.
"I am, too. Let's go." I agree.
We headed over to the food court with our Victoria's Secret shopping bags, the only place we'd yet to visit. I placed an order and we waited for them to deliver it.
"What're the guys doing today?" I ask and take a sip of my Pepsi.
"Dunno, I told them they could come to the mall too, Gavin said they never wanted to shop with us again. Lame." She rolled her eyes.
"So lame." I repeat and try to spun extra cocky, earning a laugh from taylor.
Lucas sent me a snapchat and asked if I was at the mall. I said yeah and that we're in the food court.
"Here's your pizza, extra cheese, light on the sauce, with pepperoni and bacon." The teenage boy set down the pizza and winked at me.
I felt heat rush to my face and I quickly turned away from him.
"Did he just wink at you?" Tay giggled.
"Yeah, don't say anything to anyone." I say.
"No promises." She giggled.
He was cute, I guess. I noticed that since I started dating Lucas, who I think is the hottest guy alive because I'm dating him, that the guys I used to find cute aren't as cute. So Sam a few months ago would probably think it was sweet and cute of him to wink, but now I'm uncomfortable. My phone is on the table, with a clear phone case on. In the clear phone case is a picture of Lucas and I at homecoming. Did he not even bother to notice?
"Oh, look. He gave you his number. Classy." She laughed.
"Take it, I don't want it." I say and push the napkin with his information on it away from me.
"You're so mean, what if he's watching." She giggled.
"Then he'll know I'm not interested." I shrug.
I took a bite of my pizza and continued talking to Tay.
"What're they doing here?" She looked behind me.
I spun in my chair to see Gavin and Lucas headed over to us. Gavin had a slight smirk on his face, he knew something I didn't.
"Why are-" I stopped talking when Lucas got on one knee.
He was proposing? In front of all these people? At the mall? While we're juniors in high school? No, no, no, no, no. This isn't happening. What do I even say? I can't say yes or no. I want to date him but I don't want to get engaged. That's crazy.
"Samantha Laila Holmes, you take my breath away every time I see you. I love you with my entire heart. I couldn't make it through a day without you. I don't want there to be a day without you ever. So, will you marry me?" He smiled.
"I... I... Can't," I sigh, "I love you, Lucas. I do, trust me. I just can't get married in High School. I can't."
Gavin burst out laughing.
"What's happening?" Tay furrowed her eyebrows at him.
"I got you back, Sam." Lucas was laughing hysterically.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"You lyric pranked me and I got you back!" Lucas said between laughs.
"That wasn't funny I thought you were serious." I sighed in relief.

I spent the rest of the day with Tay, we made the boys leave because we're with them too often. We needed girl time, not girl with our boyfriends time.
