How Did You Fall in Love?

"Hey, Anna." Lissa greeted me as she walked into the library.

"Hi, Lissa." I smiled at my future sister-in-law. "Is there anything you need?"

She sat down across from me, picking up the nearest book she could find. "Oh, no. I just wanna...read a bit." 

"Oh, all right."

A few silent minutes passed.

"How did you fall in love with my brother?!" Lissa blurted out.

I turned to her, surprised. "What?" I asked, laughter lacing my voice.

"More specifically, WHEN did you know you loved my brother?"

I closed my book, leaning back in my chair. "Gods, that was months ago... Well, I guess one day I figured out I loved him. Actually, it was the same day you asked me if I loved him." 

Her eyes widened. "Really? But you said that you didn't," she pointed out.

I nodded, running my fingers along the book spine. "Yes, but I didn't realize it until later. It was a bit weird, actually. I had some strange feelings about him, I didn't know what it was, but then, I realized I loved him. I'll be honest, I was scared out of my mind at first. I cherished our friendship above anything else, and I didn't want to ruin it." A grin spread across my face as I recalled the memories. "But then I realized I should keep my feelings. I thought my hopes that he would love me back were futile. That turned out wrong, of course, but I have always known that I would do anything for him. I eventually realized that my feelings were natural. I let them be. I, of course, felt a little nervous around him, but I would not let a silly crush ruin our friendship." I laughed. "He didn't handle his feelings with that much grace though...he avoided me for a full-on WEEK just because he realized he loved me!"

Lissa chuckled. "Haha, that sounds like Chrom alright. But yeah! I remember that week! Gods you, were so distraught..." she trailed off. "Well, I guess I would be too if the man I loved just decided to avoid me for no reason!"

I sighed. "It was the worst week of my life... But, I eventually cornered him and talked to him. And he ended up confessing and proposing to me," I said, flashing Lissa my ring. I was now wearing fingerless gloves so I can still cover my mark, but let my engagement ring be visible, finally...

"I still can't believe you two kept your engagement a secret for that long! I'm surprised that no one found out!" Lissa exclaimed.

"Well, he did end up telling Emmeryn. She was the only other person who knew."

She swallowed. "Of course, he could never hide things from her. I'm glad she at least knew about you two..." she muttered. "Hey Anna, can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"Do you think I stand a chance with Lon'qu?"

I was taken aback for a moment. "Lon'qu? You like Lon'qu?"

She nodded. "Yeah...like, a lot. I thought I'd ask you for advice..." She was fidgeting with her fingers.

I nodded. "Well, I'm honored that you came to me. But, you're in no rush to know this. You have your whole life to figure out your feelings."

"I know! But, I feel like everyone else has at least someone they're romantically involved with in one way or another! I mean, you have my brother. Frederick is going to pop the question to Sumia any day now, Stahl just asked Cordelia out on a date, Sully and Virion have a really weird relationship that I'm not going to question, and Ricken just started to court Maribelle. I want a significant other, too, Anna!"

I sighed, shaking my head. "Liss...you can't just force a relationship. If you like Lon'qu, tell him!" I winked. "I'd do it pretty soon if I were you, he's returning to Regna Ferox, soon."

Lissa jumped up. "Oh, gods, you're right!" Her face flushed. "Er, sorry, Anna, I need to go! Thanks for the advice! Oh, and we can talk about my brother later. I seriously want to know how you managed to fall in love with HIM! See ya!" And with that, she skipped out of the library.

I laughed and got out of my chair. I walked over to the bookshelf and put away my book. "That's enough of a break, for now. I have a meeting with Chrom to get to, anyway.

I gathered all of my things and exited the library.

Hey guys! Sorry that this chapter was a bit shorter than normal. I just wanted to publish something short and sweet so I can have something on here. I don't know if I'll be able to post on this story for a day or two. The reason is that I am doing the 25 day Christmas OTP challenge, and I need to work on that, and I am REALLY busy with school.
