Lacie is still peacefully sleeping when I decide to get out of bed. I forgot to go back to her bed last night. Crap.
But we didn't do anything.
I've been up for almost an hour checking my phone, replying to emails and stuff like that. I glance over at Lacie who is all cuddled up against me. I then decide to slide out of her grasp and go down the ladder, grabbing my clothes and going to take a shower. By the time I finished, I climb back up the ladder slowly. I hear Lai squeal when I pop my head up.
"Calum! You scared me!" She says loudly. I chuckle, climbing up the last few steps.
"Sorry. What are you doingg?" I sing, peeking at her phone. "Are you reading a fan fiction about me?"
"What...? No..? I don't know where you got that crazy idea from." She laughs nervously. I smirk, shaking my head. "Hey! Don't blame me."
"I can blame you. You don't have to read fan fictions, I'm right here! Pay attention to meee!" She laughs at my childish tone and rolls her eyes. Then Lacie stands up, shooting down the ladder in into the bathroom, and I'm following. I sit down in a bean bag and look at my phone.
'Calum. What's wrong with Nia? Did you do something wrong?' It was a text from Casey.
'I couldn't keep my promise.'
'Did you find someone else?'
'Yeah. I'm sorry, man, I know she's like a sister to you. Rena is probably pissed at me.'
'Nah, she sort of expected it. We all did.'
Well that makes me feel guilty. The door to the bathroom opens, and steam shoots out of it. The room instantly gets warmer. I set my phone down and stand up, stepping into the bathroom.
Lai glares at me.
"I'm not done. I have to dry my hair and stuff." I groan. "Be patient, mister."
"I'm gonna go downstairs and make breakfast. When does your dad go to work?"
"He should've already left, I think. Help yourself." She states, shooting me a bright smile.
—time skip—
"You're leaving already, son?" Lacie's dad asks me. Lacie bites her lip, turning to me and offering me a small smile before grabbing my backpack and going out into the driveway.
I've had one of the best weeks ever. Its been so....normal. There have been a few times, unsurprisingly, where my career gets in the way but otherwise, it was so stress free. I'm extremely grateful towards Lacie and her father."Yes, sir. I hate to go, but I gotta get back on the job." I reply, and he chuckles.
"I told you to call me Shane." He says, patting me on the back. "Safe travels, kid. Thank you for giving my girl a good time."
I nod, turning out to go into the driveway. I let out a shaky breath, getting nervous. Lacie is outside sitting in the grass, my backpack next to her feet. As I approach her, shes twiddling with a piece of grass. I sit down next to her and put my arm around her, bringing her close to me. She sighs resting her head on my shoulder. I look down at her, grabbing both her hands.
"Look, Lai. I know its hard. You seeing your idol, someone whos gotten you through so much, spent a week with him. I understand. But, you know how important this music is to me. If I wasn't involved in it we never would've met either way. I'm gonna be back before you know it. I'll visit you somehow or we'll figure it out. Cause we're close now, okay? I'm not gonna forget about you."
"I don't want to go back to my normal life." She says, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.
"I'll still be here. You can text me, we can call, whatever. I'll be here." I say, standing up and pulling her with me. I take her in my arms. "I'm gonna miss you, Lai."
