(Sorry for the late update everyone, I’ve been really busy. Thank you sooooo much for the 400 reads, without all of my readers I would have never been motivated to keep this book going. :D HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!)

Chapter 20

When we get to the room Tanae sits there looking around the room. She sees us walk in and stares at us in confusion. "Who are you?" she asks as we approach her. Oh no, she lost her memory

"It’s us, Jordan, Isabel, and Lizzie" Isabel says coming closer to her

"No, stay away from me!" she screams

"We aren't going to hurt you Tanae" I say

"NO! You tried to kill me! Stay away from me!"

"No, we would never hurt you" Jordan is trying to reassure her

"No, you tried to kill me! You kidnapped me and brought me to this school, and there was you and a whole bunch of other people and you kept me there, and you shocked me with this thing in our shoulder, and you tried to make me kill my dad. Stay away from me!" she screams tears coming from her eyes. My mind suddenly turns to the chips that were implanted into our necks. I run my finger over it and can feel the lump. It’s still there.

While Isabel and Jordan try to calm down Tanae, I roll outside to find a nurse. Luckily one was walking past the door and I stopped her

"Excuse me" I say, she instantly turns around

"Yes?"

"When we were held in that abandoned library, Dan planted these little chips in our necks, it has a GPS, and can monitor our bodies, that's what made us go into so much pain on the news broadcast. We need it out of our bodies right now" I say, knowing that Dan is still out there, although we are out of the school, he could still control us if he got a hold of his equipment.

"Okay, calm down..."

"Lizzie, My name is Lizzie"

"Okay, calm down Lizzie, I will talk to the doctors to arrange the surgery. How many have been implanted with this device" she says in the calmest voice possible

"Ten, but one passed away a few days ago, so you only need to remove 9"

"Okay will do. Now please go back to your room and get some rest. You look a wreck" she says ushering me back into Tanae's room. She obviously didn't know that it wasn't my room

"Thanks" I say sarcastically and walk back into the room.

When I get in, Tanae is curled up in a ball and is crying hysterically. "Get out!" she screams repeatedly. We eventually give in and walk out, back down the hall. Isabel stops outside the door

"I'm going to get some rest. I'm really tired" she says leaning against the door

"Well, okay. Come back over later okay?" I say

"Okay" she nods her head and walks back in.

Jordan pushes me down the hall back into our room and helps me into my bed. He kisses me once before he goes back to his bed.

We sit in silence for a while. I lay there on my side, my back towards Jordan, silently weeping. The fact that my best friend thinks I tried to kill her rips my heart to shreds. I guess my weeps weren't silent because I feel a pair of arms wrap around me as he slips into the small hospital bed with me. "It will be okay" he whispers to me and he strokes my hair. Just like he did in the library.
