We finally made it back to camp. My body stiffened as I stood beside Edmund, he looked absolutely petrified. "Empress of the Lone Islands!" she sat on a throne, with two beams supporting it, carried by four Cyclopes. I glared at her, my eyes burning into her icicle face.
She was set down she rose from her seat slowly, but proudly. Her face was emotionless, though you could tell as her eyes scanned us, she was smug. She gradually walked towards father's tent and all I could think about how long she was taking! As she past Edmund and I, she stopped with a halt. She turned her head sluggishly, he eyes met mine, they pierced into mine like daggers. She took a slight moment to look deeply into my soul and tried to darken it's spirit but I knew my soul's power could never be underestimated by the conceited woman. I had never seen so much hate in one's eyes, but the loathsome in the Witch's eyes could never be described in such words. "Aslan," she started, turned towards father. "I see your daughter has found her way back to Narnia." she sneered, disgust written all over her expression.
"That's right, Witch." I hissed.
"How dare you not address your rightful Queen! I knew I should have destroyed you when I had the chance. But look at yourself now, your nothing but a little princess who knows nothing. No wonder Aslan gave you away," tears formed in my eyes, but I refused to let them stream. I knew if I cried I would be weaker than her. But I know my heart is much stronger than her cold, stone heart. "You're a worthless- you're nothing special to Narnia. You're just-" I couldn't handle my anger any more the disgust I had towards this woman was indescribable, I wanted to see her pay for what she had done to Narnia, Edmund and myself. She didn't even finish before I raced towards her. But a strong arm yanked me back. Stumbling, I whipped my head around to see Edmund was the one holding him back. THANK YOU ED! "You can't kill me" She scoffed, sinisterly. "You little fool," she taunted, a wicked grin formed on her pale, slender lips. She turned her back and walked before father. Oh how much I wanted to punch that snow cone! "You also have a traitor amongst you midst Aslan." she stood boastfully before the mighty lion.
"His offence was not against you." He spoke calmly, but I could see in his eyes fury waved like a whirl pool.
"Have you not forgotten the laws upon which Narnia was built?" She challenged, raising her voice.
"Do not cite the deep magic to me Witch!" father growled. "I was there when it was written."
"Then you remember well, that every traitor belongs to me," she disputed with an amused smirk. "His blood is my property." my shoulders suddenly felt heavy, as if you were to place a hefty weight that was glued to my shoulders.
"Try and take him then." Peter dared, stepping forward, brandishing his sword.
"Do you really think that mere force will deny me my right little king," she mocked. "Aslan knows unless I have blood as the law demands," her voice rose as she started. Jadis turned to the crowd and shouted. "ALL OF NARNIA WILL BE OVER TURNED, IN FIRE AND WATER," she continued. "That boy," my heart cam to a stop as she pointed towards Edmund. "Will die on the Stone Table," I gasped in utter shock. I could feel my heart completely freeze. I gazed at Edmund's fearful expression, his body cringed; stiffening at the words of the Witch. "As is tradition," I slipped my tender hands into Edmund's and intertwined my scrawny fingers into his. "You dare not refuse me."
"Enough," father ordered. "I shall speak with you alone." he turned and padded into his tent and the evil 'Snow Cone' trailed behind him. I sat impatiently on the grass; worry and concern building up in my mind, I clung protectively onto Edmund, while he wrapped his securely around my waist. Uneasy feelings twisted and turned in my stomach. The silence in the air only made the atmosphere even more distressing and edgy. Only the sound of the wind crying as it blew against our strained souls.
My heart pounded with fear as the 'Snow Cone' emerged from the tent. We all jumped up to our feet and my grip on Edmund's hand tightened. She glared at Edmund, her expression full of hatred. Father had followed her out and took his place back onto the rocks. "She has renounced her claim on the Son of Adam's blood." Aslan announced, though his voice sounded extremely grave. Cheers and shouts erupted with great volume. I shrieked with joy, dropping Edmund's hand and embracing myself into his arms. Tears of joy leaked from my eyes, and my smile was as wide as Cheshire Cat.
"How do I know your promise will be kept?" she sneered loudly over the loud cheers. As an answer my father gave a deafening, mighty roar, causing her to fall back into her seat. HA coward! Goosebumps trailed up my arm at the sound of his roar. The power of such a creature was... amazing. Words can't explain how taken back I felt. Everyone laughed and cheered in glee.
I let go of Edmund and engulfed Susan into a tight, warm hug. I peered over her shoulder to see the Witch being whisked away by her four Cyclopes. But she turned her head slowly, eyeing me narrowly."You're next," she mouthed. I pulled away from Susan feeling nauseous. What does she mean 'you're next'? The question replayed in my mind continuously. I could hear her evil voice running ringing through my ears. I knew she was only trying to weaken me with her power. So I quickly threw the thought off my mind. I pulled Lucy into my arms but she seemed distracted by something, or someone. I pulled her small figure away and followed her gaze.
She was staring at father...
He did not celebrate, nor did he have a smile washed upon his lips. He lowered his head, filled with worry and sorrow. I turned to Lucy, confusion and doubt written on our faces. Father crawled back into his tent in silence, escaping the cheers and yells from the crowd.
"Oh Edmund, you're safe now," I whispered, as my arms engulfed Edmund again. He pulled away and I couldn't resist but to goggle at his gorgeous, chocolate brown eyes. Our chins gradually leaned in slowly. The overwhelming fluttering pain in my stomach made it hard to breathe. Our lips were only inches away when suddenly Peter, Susan and Lucy tackled us to the hard, yet soft ground (if that even makes sense!). Their combined weight made it difficult for oxygen to enter my lungs. "Kinda squishing me here." I breathed breathlessly. They all laughed and one by one the weight suffocating my lungs was lifted. Once I was back on two feet I glanced over at Edmund's beautiful face and I knew these feelings I had for this boy was not just a little crush, it was more than that.
But under all those happy feelings that made me feel alive, I knew that something grave was lurking in my soul.
Something that suddenly apprehensive, something that will happen unexpectedly.
