"If he wants to be."
There was silence. Damon had an anticipated look on his face, but my mum was just kind of still, in shock. We heard a bed being pushed past the room we were in, and several nurses running behind it. The noise of an ambulance came from outside, admitting another dying patient. And we all sat here, listening for Sam's next few words.
"I..." He began. A small smile creeped onto his lips. "Yeah." He whispered. Damon jumped up from his chair, cheering.
"I called it!" He shouted. My mum was silent.
"We'd better go." She said, hurriedly, and gathered her handbag and coat up. "The nurses are going to keep you in overnight but you might be out tomorrow." She nodded, and left.
"See ya, lil' bro. See ya Sam." He waved, leaving soon after. I turned to Sam. He turned to me, and quickly looked in my eyes before glancing back down at the sheets. It was nice, to sit in silence. But Felicity interrupted, entering the room with her fake smile and dumb clothing. Her stupidly tall heels clicked annoying on the floor of the hospital.
"Of course, Felicity had to show." I muttered, earning a chuckle off Sam.
"Sam, we'll have to leave in a couple minutes. Say goodbye to your friend." Sam's grip on my hand tightened, and he spoke up.
"He's not my friend." Sam stood up.
"Well, say goodbye to -" she checked the clipboard at the end of my bed, full of my details. "- Jason, and we'll head off." She plastered the fake smile all over her face, but it wasn't showing in her eyes and most of her face looked bored and tired. Sam leaned over and placed his lips on mine, and lingered for a couple seconds. As he pulled away I quickly pecked his lips, and rested my forehead on his.
"Goodbye Jason."
"Bye Sam." I blushed.
"Oh you're... Oh ok." Felicity started, mumbling to herself, leaving the room. Sam left slowly, glancing over his shoulder at me on last time before closing the door. I rested my head back on my pillow and closed my eyes. The drugs in my system soon rocked me into sleep, and I was consumed by darkness.

I woke to the sun streaming in through the windows and a nurse was bustling about, removing wires from machines. I sat up slowly, hissing in pain.
"The medication should last a week or so, if he takes one when the pain begins. If you need more they can be requested at reception with the forms." She said over her shoulder to my parents. I looked to them as she slowly pulled the needle from my arm, sticking a plaster over the small hole it left.
"Thank you, nurse." My dad said, trying to sound cheerful. As the nurse bustles out, my mum follows, and he sits on the bed next to me, a bag in his hand. "Your mother packed some clothes. Well, she packed your uniform. She expects you to go to school but we can take you home if you like." He offered. I shook my head.
"No," I declined. "I need to go." He simply nodded and placed the bag on the chair to the right of my bed. He was about to get up, when he turned to me.
"Son, what exactly happened?"
"I got beaten up by some old friends."
"But that boy that your mum said came to see you, he's still your friend?" I thanked my mum silently for not telling dad the through about Sam and I. It would be better to hear it from me.
