I'm walking Sam home from school the following Monday when we see two unknown cars parked outside his house. Luckily, neither of them belonged to Felicity, so my worries faded slightly, however I was still on edge about it. Of course, I didn't own the place; if Jim wanted to invite people in then it was his bloody choice, but I still worried about the people Sam may have associated himself with before I met him, and apparently people were still speculating about Sam's father's death, which had been 'solved'.
Sam looks at me, traces of panic flooding his eyes, but I squeeze his hand as I lead him into his home. It's a pleasant surprise when we're met with seven friendly and smiling faces.
"Sam! Jason! It's great to see you two again. How are things?" Sarah calls, making her way over to us, as we meet her halfway in the lounge.
"Yeah, we're good, thanks." Sam smiles. "Rough Friday and Saturday, but we got through."
"Rough like they fucked or rough like he fucked someone else?" Theo called from the corner of the room, grinning. He didn't fail to notice the glare Jim shot him.
"Shit hit the fan at a party and he fucked up but we're good now." Sam answered, using his thumb to rub circles on my hand. "How are you guys?" We were met with a range of "Ok"s and "Good"s from the adults, but what caught my eye was Luke, who was sitting - more so, perching - on Sean's lap, who didn't seem discontent with it all.
"Sean and Luke," I whispered, leaning over to Sarah, "they aren't...? Are they?" She looks at me with a strange expression.
"They haven't said anything, but we haven't failed to notice their not-so-subtle glances and touching." She replied in a hushed tone. "Not touching like that," she continued, rolling her eyes when she sees my face, "just, holding pinkies and sitting way too close. They stop if we say anything, but it doesn't last five minutes."
"So they might be, just not out?" She nodded in reply. "Cute. I ship it.'
"Ship what?" Sam asked, joining the conversation.
"Drapple." Sarah panicked, before mouthing the word shit when she realised what she had said.
"I.... Sure, whatever." He turned to me, "I'll be back in a minute." He added, kissing my cheek before he let go of my hand and ran upstairs.
I turned to face the rest of the room again, feeling my throat become dry when I saw everyone - save the maybe-closeted-couple, who were leaving to the kitchen - staring at me.
"What?" Everyone shook their heads and returned to conversation, whereas I relocated to the kitchen to quench my parched throat.
Somehow I'm surprised when I see Luke and Sean standing in there already, although I assume it's more from their position rather than their presence. Less than half a foot away from each other, their hands are interlaced and their foreheads are pressed against each other's.
