It was finally summer. The month of June had approached more quickly than I thought it would. With the date drawing closer I tied up any lose threads that I had left here on Earth, the place I had called home. It was the day before my birthday when I fully realized the sacrifice I was going to have to make. The true pain that this was going to cause me. My single choice alone would decide not only my fate, but everyone's around me. Daniel, Raphael, the entire weight of three worlds is on my shoulders now. My last day at work was last week so I had nothing to do but sit and ponder on what I should decide. Daniel was the first one I had met, the demon. He was the one who had helped me and who had been the one to explain everything to me when I was confused. But then I had Raphael, the angel. He was shy but really kind with almost a childish side once you got to know him. How could they ever make me decide between them, it wasn't fair. I loved them as if I had known them my whole life. They were my best friends, my guardians, and now they were the ones I cared about most. I went to bed that night with a heavy decision on my mind that would save many but would destroy someone very close to me in the end. When I woke up the next morning I saw a smiling Raphael on my right and an almost ecstatic Daniel on my left. I sat up and couldn't help but smile, seeing them both here like this made me feel like I was complete. "Happy birthday!" they both shouted at the same time and jumped right onto me on the bed. We all laughed as I had to fight my way out of bed, to get them both off me. I stood up and turned my gaze to the two smiling boys who were still laughing on my bed. I sat down on the edge of my bed so I was right in front of them. "So why are you guys here so early? Its only eight twenty five." They looked at each other, back at me, then at the same time, each one of them held out a small present to me. Raphael's was wrapped in blue and silver paper and Daniel's was wrapped in red and purple paper. I smiled and took them both wondering who's I should open first but as I was deciding I came up with a great idea. "You guys play rock, paper, scissors so I know which one to open first." They did so and Daniel came out on top. I picked up the small palm sized box and slowly unwrapped it. Inside was a silver necklace with a dream catcher pendant on it. It was so simple yet the detail on it was unlike any other I had seen. It was so beautiful. I picked up the slim silver chain, holding it between my fingers as I admired the little gift I had received. I slowly clasped the necklace together behind my neck and let the silver glint against my skin in the light."I love it thank you." I smiled at him for a moment before picking up the small blue and silver box that Raphael had given me. Slowly I open it as if there was something fragile and breakable in the box. Inside was a bracelet with a little key charm dangling between glinting black beads. "Wow." I smile and attempted to put it on my wrist but had trouble doing it one handed. "Here I'll help you." He said taking the bracelet from me. I outstretched my arm to him and watched as he easily clipped the bracelet around my small wrist. I stared at the dangling key that looked like one of those old skeleton keys, intricate and full of mystery. "Thank you guys so much!" I hugged the both of them without even thinking as to what I was doing. I pulled away as a soft blush crept across my cheeks, although they didn't seem to notice it. "So what do you want to do today?" Daniel asked with a huge grin plastered across his face. I thought and smiled to myself as an idea popped into my head. "There's an amusement park in town and I really want to go." they both jumped up at the same time and stood up next to one another. "Then to the amusement park we go!"they were so full of energy that it was contagious. They left the room so I could get ready, but as I got ready all I could think about was tomorrow. I knew I should be happy about today but since tomorrow is decision day I can't seem to stop thinking about it. I pulled on my favorite pair of black jeans and a pink camo tank top. I walked into the living room to see the both of them waiting eagerly by the door for me. I laughed and grabbed each of their hands with a smile now painted across my face almost as big as theirs. We all walked to the amusement park which was only maybe a couple miles from where I lived. As we walked we talked about what we were going to do when we got there. I found out that neither of them had tried a fried Twinkie, they have never tried cheesecake, and they have never gone on a roller coaster. We all paid to get in and the look on their faces when we got past the gate was priceless. I dragged them to the nearest food stand and ordered them each a fried Twinkie. They looked at me as if they were almost scared to eat which made me laugh. I grabbed Daniels and took a bite of it to show that it was safe to eat. After that they didn't question me on eating the weird fried food. I took them on multiple roller coasters, I saved the higher ones for last. It was almost dark out, the sun was setting over the horizon leaving the sky a purple and dark blue color with pink clouds still floating around here and there. "Come on,there's one last ride I want to take you both on!" I took their hands and started walking towards the giant Ferris wheel which was placed by a cliff so there was an amazing view of the city from the top. After waiting in line for almost ten minutes we were seated into a little blue carrier. I sat in the middle as I always did with Daniel on my left and Raphael on my right. It started moving, going up slowly as we got closer and closer to the top. I sat back relaxing in the warm summer air, looking up at the sky which already had stars dotted about it. As we got to the top we stopped, down below lights lit up the city like it was Christmas except this was much more beautiful. The lights that radiated from the buildings reminded me almost of the fireworks on the fourth of July, twinkling lights both individual and together, sprayed our before me in an array of colors. We all stared out at the glorious scene below us that was surely a rare thing to be seen by those who are not from earth. Silence fell upon us as we watched the city buzz with life, although the silence was thick it was not the kind of silence that made you want to scream just to hear something. A few minutes passed before the wheel started moving again. We descended our way back down to the ground below where there were others waiting to get on and see the amazing sight from above.
