By the time we got to the ground all I could think about was the glittering lights of the city from above. We made our way to the sidewalk so we could figure out what to do now."So what would you guys like to do?' I asked looking at the both of them with a smile on my face. We all pondered for a moment about what to do when Raphael spoke up, his voice sounding as if he had just been told he won the lottery."We still haven't truly celebrated your birthday yet." I looked at him confused. What did he mean that we haven't truly celebrated yet? But Daniel seemed to know what he meant. "Cake!" I smiled and nodded in agreement. "Then to get cake it is!" we walked out of the park, making our way around other cars, people, and bikes as we walked down the street. They followed me to a small bakery that sat next to a liquor store and a gym. When we walked inside the sweet aroma of cakes, cookies, and all things sugary. "You guys pick out the cake for me, I want to be surprised." I sat down at one of the small circular tables and gestured for them to go pick. They walked up to the counter and started flipping through a cake book that was filled with thousands of cake designs. After a few minutes of flipping through the book they got the attention of the baker and pointed to the picture of the cake they wanted then they pointed over at me as they spoke to the man. The man left through the silver double doors that lead to the kitchen. Raphael and Daniel then walked back over to me with huge grins on their face. "Your cake will be ready in a few moments he said." I smile curious as to what kind of cake they chose and what design they had picked for my birthday cake. Ten minutes later the baker walked out with a whit box with my name written on the top and a long note below my name that I couldn't read from where I was sitting. The man handed Daniel the cake they walked back behind the counter. "Come on we'll eat it when we get home." Raphael said as he helped me up and we all walked out the door together. Minutes later we arrived at my house. Angie was out of town visiting her parents for the weekend so we had the entire house to ourselves. I sat down at the kitchen table as the two boys walked up on either sides of me and set the cake box down in front of me. Below my name wrote "Thank you. Thank you for not jumping into things too quickly and waiting to make a decision. Thank you for being not only a great person but an amazing friend to the both of us.Happy birthday Kat, now make a wish." I softly closed my eyes and silently made my wish in my head. It was a wish that I so dearly wished would come true even though in my heart I knew it was hopeless to wish that, but I didn't care I could still wish. I reopened my mind and looked down at the cake box which was now open to reveal a purple iced cake with red heart in the middle of it with wings. One of the wings was a white angel wing while the other was a black demon wing. Below the heart in blue lettering it said happy birthday Kat. A smile crossed my features as I looked up at the both of them. "Thank you both so much." They cut the small cake and handed me my piece which was taken out of the middle of the heart. Raphael took a piece with the angel wing on it while Raphael took a piece with the demons wing on it. Ironic if you ask me. We all sat down together eating our cake in silence. We all finished moments later. I stood up from the table and looked at the both of them. "Promise me something?"I asked softly as I had been thinking very seriously about tomorrow. They both nodded in slight confusion as I got ready to make my claim. "Promise me that no matter what happens you will both stay my friends?" I didn't want to lose them.If I lost them I don't know what would happen. My life was now revolving around them, my friends, my guardians. They looked at each other for a moment before looking back at me with small smiles on their faces. I their eyes I saw that they were going to promise me something that they couldn't know if they could keep. "Yes." They said in unison and smiled bigger to reassure me that they would try their hardest to keep that promise. The rest of the night was almost a blur of movies and cake.
