Time to Decide

The next morning I woke up to rays of sunshine on my face that blurred my vision as I woke. Next to me, where Daniel and Raphael had been the night before, was empty. Where are they? I wondered to myself as I got out of bed with a heavy sigh. I searched the house starting with Raphael's room, then the kitchen, the living room, and last the bathroom but they were nowhere to be found. Where could they have gone off to so early in the morning? Then it hit me, today was the day that I was going to have to choose my destiny, my fate. I week before I had set out clothes for the event with the help of Daniel. I headed back to my room and stripped out of the clothes I was wearing and into the fresh new clothes. It was a long black and white dress that looked almost like it had smoke rolling around the soft cloth. I grabbed my black converses and pulled them on quickly, when Daniel and I were picking out clothes I had refused to wear heels so he finally gave up after almost an hour of arguing. When I looked back on my bed there was a small card with blue writing on it. I picked up the card curiously to read what it said. On the front of the card was my name and on the back was an address. The Nusiental Park in downtown. This must be where my decision trial is taking place. Below the address was a time that said noon.Right now it was eleven thirty so I guess I better start heading there now. I grabbed my keys and hopped into my car without second thought towards my home that I would be leaving behind. It was about a twenty minute drive to the park which seemed like forever yet at the same time it felt like it wasn't long enough. I pulled into the empty abandoned parking lot and took a long look around before getting out of my car. I made my way to the parks lake which is where Daniel said it would most likely be at. As I approached the calm blue water I saw Daniel and Raphael standing there on opposite sides of a big blue rug on the ground. Daniel was surrounded by two tall looking men. The first one was a man with a large build who had long blond hair that went past his hair.He was wearing a tight white shirt and light blue jeans. The other one was a little smaller than the first and had shorter brown hair that swept across his forehead above his eyes. He was wearing a blue shirt with white shorts. I could guess who was who by the way they looked. The blond was obviously Michael and the brown haired one must've been Gabriel. One the other side standing by Daniel was a skinny man with long black hair almost like Michael's. He was wearing a black t-shirt and dark blue jeans with odd black splotches all over them. He must be Lucifer. Next to him stood a man dressed in a long black coat with a name tag on him that said Samuel. I walked onto the small blue rug between them and took a deep breath to steady my nerves. The moment I had been dreading since the day I met them had now come and I would have to make my final decision. But I don't want to decide. I don't want to lose the life that I have and the friends that I've made in these last few months. "Are you ready to decide Katherine?" I looked up as the deep voice said my full name. I usually only went by Kat but for someone to call me Katherine means that this is serious. When he spoke again I finally saw who the deep and intense voice came from, it was Michael. "Do you know what you want?" I took a deep breath again and searched in my heart and my soul to find the answer, but I couldn't. We stood there in silence for a while as I thought about what I was going to do. I don't want to decide but what other choice to I have? I could fight. I could make a decision for myself and ignore the laws of a world I didn't understand. "Yes I have." They all straightened and awaited for my final answers. "I don't want to go anywhere. I shouldn't be forced to choose a side in a war that I don't understand and was just brought into. And no a few months is not long enough to get to know someone, understand what's at stake, and choose how I want to change my life. I shouldn't be asked to completely change my life in order to profit yours. What about me? Did you ever stop to think about what you are doing to the humans you make choose? You're making them leave their family, friends, and their entire life basically just because you guys can't just get along. Is it that hard to just say truce and stop fighting? All I've heard about all this since I met them was all about the war, the decisions, the sacrifices, and how I won't be able to live a normal life ever again. So no, I will not pick a side just to let this stupid war continue so you can ruin someone else life." Daniel and Raphael's jaws dropped as I spoke, standing up to the most powerful angels and demons in the world. They all looked at me with shocked expressions. Clearly no one else has ever stood up to them like this and they didn't know how to react. Good. Maybe it will give them something to think about. We all stood there in silence after my little outburst of truth, my one true feeling that I would not let die.
