After moments of silence it was finally Lucifer who spoke up to my response. "Well if that is truly how you feel then how are we going to settle this? Someone has to choose and a side must be chosen. Traditions do not die easy girl and if we have to we will force you to choose. And I'm sure Michael and Gabriel would help me if it came to that, so don't make this harder than it has to be." He was right. They would make me choose one way or another. But screw them, I wasn't going to make this easy on them. I wasn't going to let them ruin people's lives in order to satisfy their own. I turned and looked the demon right in his eyes, standing my ground firmly as I spoke. "Try me." It was both a threat and a challenge to all of them. Daniel looked like he was about to fall over laughing from amazement and shock at my proposition to the six of them. I wasn't scared of any angel nor demon no matter how powerful they were, they weren't going to change my mind so easily. Lucifer looked at Michael and he nodded as if they were having a silent conversation that only they could hear. "Katherine you do realize the predicament that you are putting us in do you not?" I nodded knowing that they had a backup plan for if I said no.Gabriel looked at Raphael and Samuel looked at Daniel. I saw fear cross their faces, they knew what they were being told to do but they didn't want to do it."Whoever survives shall claim your soul." Survives? What is he talking about? And then I knew, they were going to make them fight to the death. They were going to force them to try and kill one another and I was the stupid little prize to be won. Daniel and Raphael walked behind me and stood a few feet away from one another, facing each other. I turned, my hair whirling around behind me as I saw the both of them pull out long silver swords out of nowhere. In the blink of an eyes they rushed at each other and somehow I found myself rushing between then not even knowing what I was doing or that I was moving. "No!" I screamed. The next seconds happened so fast that I wasn't even sure it was real. Searing and blinding pain radiated from my shoulder blade and a glint of silver right beside me. Daniel's sword had impaled my shoulder blade causing blood to run down my back while Raphael's sword was only inches from my face. I held my breath as I looked Raphael in the eyes. Fear and clear and set intention swimming around in my soft eyes. We stood there for what felt like an eternity but was only a moment before I fell onto my knees from the pain.Daniel removed his sword from my shoulder and threw it on the ground, Raphael did the same, forgetting about the angels and demons surrounding me. To them I was the only important thing in that moment. They knelt down next to me and embraced me from either side. We stayed like that for a while before a low voice spoke up behind me. "If you both are finished now, and if you girl are finished with your little stunt, shall we get back to making that decision. That is unless you have changed your mind on deciding yourself." I could tell that it was Lucifer who spoke and even though I knew what he was saying, my mind had not changed. Through gritted teeth I told him exactly what I wanted and this time I didn't hold back. "You know what Lucifer. You can go back to hell and crawl back into the hole you came out of. Screw your rules and all of your decision making. I will not choose so you can just go screw yourself. I'll be dead before you can make me go anywhere without the both of them. So you can take your damn laws and shove them where the sun doesn't shine. And that goes for all of you." Again Daniel and Raphael's jaws dropped, but this time it wasn't only theirs, this time all of them seemed to be stunned that I could make such a claim to them. And I'll tell you right now, I'm glad I did, they deserved it, and they need to start thinking about someone other than themselves. I stood up even though the pain in my shoulder was killing me and looked at the two sides beside me. "I'm never going to let you take away the ones that I love to fulfill your wishes. I'm not going to be the one to destroy my life by agreeing with whatever the hell you want me to. And I sure as hell am not going to choose between anyone." I grabbed both Daniel and Raphael's hands and started walking away from the supernatural creatures behind me. The two boys who I held close followed without objecting a single word. We made our way back to my house in silence. When we got there they followed me into my room and watched me as I sat down on my bed. Daniel had grabbed a first aid kit from my bathroom and Raphael was standing beside the door. Daniel sat down behind me and peeled my shirt off so he could tend to the wound on my back. I didn't object because now tears were streaming down my cheeks like rivers in the summer. My shoulder was cleaned and wrapped up so it could start healing. "Are you ok?" Raphael's soft voice asked from across the room. I nodded silently and laid back on my bed wincing as I felt the pressure against my freshly wrapped wound. "They won't come after us for a while. They're going to let everything cool down first, but they will come back and try to do it again. We didn't know that that was how you truly felt about all of this. They could've just killed you but they didn't. You are the first human to ever stand up to them, especially to Lucifer." I smiled slightly to myself at that fact. "But for now you should get some rest. I promise we will be here when you wake up." I curled up under the blankets and drifted off into sleep with an angel on my left and a demon on my right.
