Thomas Wayne was leaving his work office when he received a call from his beloved pregnant wife, Martha. He pulled out his phone and answered. "Hi honey. I'm leaving work, what's up?" He asked.
"You've gotta get down to the hospital. Now!" Martha answered.
"Is everything okay?" Thomas asked, rushing to get to the exit.
"Thomas, honey, our boy is going to be born soon. You better be here for this." Martha hung up.
"Hello? H-hello?" Thomas repeated as he didn't notice the call had ended. Once he realized, he cursed. Thomas speedily drove his million dollar car towards the exit. He and his eccentric car perfectly made it to the hospital at 8:00 exactly. He pulled open the glass entrance door of the hospital. As he made his way to the elevator, a lady stepped in the way welcoming him.
"Welcome, Dr. Wayne. Can I assist you with anything?" The kind lady spoke.
"Get out of my way. I need to get to my wife." Thomas thrust the poor lady out of his way in a state of impatience and frustration. Thomas approached the elevator and hit the button to go up. After a few seconds, the elevator shaft opened and Thomas stepped inside. He clicked the number 26 to be brought up to the 26th floor where he presumed Martha was located since that is where she always goes when she feels ill. Thomas grew even more impatient as the elevator doors took their time to open. He eventually escaped the long elevator ride up and continued down the hall. He walked until he reached the room Martha should be in. He heard the slightest sound of crying. He knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it. After a minute or so of whispering, the door creaked open. A doctor appeared and asked why Thomas was there. "To see my wife you fool!" Thomas exclaimed and put his hand on the door to open it more.
"Why did you even bother to arrive?" The doctor glared at him.
"I came here because I want to see my son being born." This man is ridiculous. Thomas thought.
"Should've gotten here sooner, asshole." The doctor said and opened the door all the way so Thomas could see inside. Thomas saw Martha laying on the hospital bed with the newborn baby in her arms. The baby was quietly crying. Thomas saw the look of disappointment on Martha's face and felt bad. He walked over to her and sat down in the closest chair.
"I'm sorry" was all Thomas could manage.
Martha stared at him for a few seconds until she finally spoke. "I know." She said, smiling. "He's beautiful isn't he?"
"He is. I'm proud of you." Thomas kissed Martha on the cheek. Thomas looked down at his newborn baby.
"Here. Hold him." Martha held the baby out. Thomas grabbed him gently and cradled him in his arms. "I was thinking of names for him. I didn't think you'd approve of the one I like."
"What are you thinking?" Thomas asked Martha. He wanted to know. He had no ideas at the moment. He thought he would go with anything she said. Well, almost anything.
"I was thinking Bruce. What do you think?", asked Martha.
"I think it's perfect. Bruce Wayne." Thomas said, trying out how it sounded. Thomas kissed his son on the forehead. "I just know you're going to do great things, Bruce." Thomas breathed. Martha stared at Thomas and Thomas stared back. They both smiled, enjoying the company of their new son, Bruce Wayne.
