Batman drove to Montoya's location first, hoping that Harvey would be alright. He parked in a random location near the site and he could hear gunfire from where he was. He peeked and eventually saw five mercs shooting at Montoya who was hiding behind a police car. Batman took his car and drove in right in front of the mercs. The mercs shot at Batman's vehicle but since it was bulletproof, the bullets did nothing. Batman turned on his headlights which blinded the mercs. They yelled in pain and held their eyes shut, dropping their guns. Batman jumped out of the car and tackled one of the mercs. He punched the merc in the face, knocking him out instantly. Another merc grabbed Batman from behind but Batman elbowed him in the face. Batman got off the unconscious merc and he grabbed the other merc. The three other mercs raised their guns. Batman used the merc he had as a shield and the mercs instead shot at the merc that Batman was holding, killing him. Batman threw the body to the ground and ran forward at the three. He threw a bat-a-rang at one of them. The blade pierced the merc's arm. The merc screamed. Batman grabbed one of the other two mercs and threw him into the police car that Montoya was hiding behind, knocking him out. Montoya then revealed herself and shot one of the mercs in the chest, stopping him. The final guy lunged at Batman and grabbed him from behind. Montoya shot the merc in the back of the head, killing him. The other mercs that remained were knocked out. Two dead, one injured and two unconscious. Batman turned to Montoya. "It's over. Drop the gun." He said.
"Look, I promise I'm not going to shoot you, okay?" Montoya replied, still holding the pistol in her hands. "I used to think you were a threat. But...I was wrong. We both have much more bigger problems right now. I'm sorry. Can you forgive me? Those guys had me pinned down. If you hadn't shown up when you did...I would be dead."
"It's okay. It's in the past. I forgive you."
"Thank you...means a lot coming from you. I don't know what I was thinking, coming out here alone. I really blew it. I could be dead. Or you could be dead! And it'd be on me!"
"Good instincts, but you need to think things through. Be patient. Don't rush. I may not be able to save you next time."
"Yeah, I owe you big for this one. I still don't understand how they knew I was coming." Batman then heard something on a nearby walkie-talkie that was attached to a merc's jacket.
The message on the radio said, "Heads up. The cops just sent three black-and-whites to stop our guys from going after Dent. From the chatter, sounds like the lieutenant is with them."
"Someone's gotta help Gordon. They know he's coming." Montoya whispered as if someone could hear them if she didn't whisper. "Go, I'll see what I can find here. I'm not giving up on this." Batman nodded and jumped into his vehicle. He took off, venturing to save Dent. If he had time.
"Alfred?" Batman asked as he drove fast.
"Are you alright?", asked Alfred.
"Yeah. But they knew I was coming. They seem to be getting info on the GCPD's whereabouts. Not sure how. I need an update on Harvey."
"I'm bringing it up now." Alfred brought up video feed from Harvey's whereabouts.
"Deborah, get down!" Harvey yelled.
"Mr. Dent! What did you do to him?!" Harvey's assistant said.
"I said get back in the car!! There's more of them coming!" Harvey shouted. Suddenly, Gordon's voice was heard in the background.
"Put down your weapons! There's too many of them! Everybody take cover!" Alfred's voice then came back.
"You'd better get down there."
"On my way." Batman replied. Batman arrived fifteen minutes later. He parked his car in front of the scene. He got out and pushed officers to see what was going on. He then saw. A merc lay dead, beaten to death. Harvey stood over him, talking to a police officer and explaining what happened. Harvey' knuckles had blood scrawled on them. Harvey noticed Batman and glared at him. Harvey was wearing a half-mask on his face to conceal his burnt half. Batman heard a cop say that Harvey said it was in self-defense. A cop tapped Batman on the back. Batman turned around to face who it was.
"New mayor's pretty tough, turns out. Killed one of those guys attacking him with his bare hands." The cop said who stood next to Harvey's assistant, Deborah.
"Dent did that?" Batman asked.
"Guess the fella's lucky Dent got to him before you did, huh?"
"If you have something to say then say it."
"We all know how you operate. You like to see them hurt, don't you? They're not dead, but they wish they were. At least this one died quick. You would've taken your time, I'm sure." The cop walked away. Batman walked up to Gordon.
"We got our asses handed to us." Gordon said as he sensed Batman behind him.
"They knew you were coming." Batman told Gordon.
"How? We've been using a secure channel...you saying we got a leak?" Gordon pulled out his walkie-talkie. "Gordon to command. Anyone there?"
"Command here. What is it, Gordon?" The voice came from a walkie-talkie on the dead merc. Batman noticed.
"Turn that off!" Batman said to Gordon quickly.
"What? Why?" Gordon asked.
"It's been compromised." Batman replied. "The Children of Arkham are listening in on the GCPD's communications." Gordon shut off the radio. "I'm gonna look into this. I'll report what I find out." Batman walked over to his vehicle and got in. He drove off, leaving the scene behind in dust.
