31- The Hospital

Gotham General Hospital, 8:45 PM. One week after the debate...

Bruce and Selina walked down the halls of Gotham General Hospital. The two were preparing themselves to see Harvey in the hospital. Bruce was nervous to see his friend. Half of his face had been burnt and Bruce couldn't help but feel guilty. If Harvey knew Bruce was Batman...he'd end their friendship entirely. Bruce talked to Selina. "'Mayor Dent'. You know, I always assumed Harvey would win but not like this."

"Won by default. He's probably pissed he didn't get his landslide fair and square." Selina tried cheering Bruce up. It didn't work. 

"Hey-- Harvey's going to be okay." Bruce reassured himself and Selina.

"You don't know that. I just-- I keep wondering...why did you do it? Harvey needed you. Why save me? Harvey's your best friend. I'm nothing to you. I just don't get it."

"I did it...because I care about you."

"Well maybe you shouldn't." The two finally reached the door to Harvey's room. Bruce reached for the door knob when Selina spoke. "I don't think I can do this."

"What are you talking about?"

"I don't want to see what-- I just can't. Okay? I have to go. I'm sorry. Just go in without me."

"Harvey needs you right now. Do it for him."

"I'm sorry, Bruce. I wish I could but--"

"You can."

"It's my fault he's in there. I don't have anything to say to him that would make this better." Selina handed Bruce the flowers she held for Harvey. She started walking away. "Please, Bruce. Don't tell him I was here. I don't think he'd understand." Bruce could hear the news on from inside Harvey's room.

"Gotham is still reeling after the debate from last week's mayoral debate. With the drugging and subsequent murder of Mayor Hamilton Hill, Harvey Dent was left running unopposed. After a rather lackluster election, Mayor Dent was sworn in from his hospital bed." Bruce finally decided to walk into the room. He opened the door and stepped inside, ready for whatever awaited him.
