Gifted

Prologue-

 Long ago there was a boy who was injured in the woods, with no one to help him the boy thought he would die out there until five animals came to his aid a Big Cat, Wolf, Bear, Fox and Birds of Prey. The animals all spoke 'How do we help?' The boy was stunned generally but dying eased this shock, the Wolf came by him and whispered in his ear as did the other four. They all wanted to become one with the boy to save him, shouting was in the woods as the boy's siblings came running and shouting for the animals to go. The Big Cat came to the first sister and blinked 'I choose her' the two became one as the sister became a Big Cat, the Wolf came to the second eldest and blinked 'She's mine' The Wolf became one with the girl and howled in this new found joy, The Bear came to the oldest son and roared 'This boy is now mine' as the united to one, The Fox came to the smallest boy and blinked 'I shall be one with him' the Fox shook as they joined and the Bird of Prey came to the final male sibling and cawed 'Mine' the boy flew up with the sun on it's wings. The wounded boy became healed as the animals came forward 'Come boy, Lead us in this new life. teach us to fight and heal from the other creatures in this world'  That is just what the boy did. As they all grew the animals multiplied the Cats turned to Prides, the Wolf to a Pack, the Bear to a Sleuth, the Fox to a Leash and the Bird to a Flock. The new found groups migrated and soon these creatures were everywhere, the boy grew to be the head Council man who made the rules and allowed five others to join the esteemed Council- The five original Gifted ones. That's where we come from, The Gifted.

The wind whipped through my long blond hair as the rain poured making me uncomfortable in my jeans. I pushed my wet hair out of face to see the dark road i was walking down, I looked at my phone to see it was past 1 in the morning. Sighing I decided to call Hayley again.

It was Hayley's birthday 13th birthday and I being one of her best friends of course attended. I could picture her right now laughing with Rebecca our other best friend and the other girls whose names i hadn't bothered to learn. They dared me to run across the block, I being the only one that never turned down a dare accepted and now I was hopelessly lost. 

I just moved into town about 3 months ago and was only familiar with my block. I pushed up my glasses as the phone continued to ring. "Dang it Hayley, Just pick up the phone" I spoke softly to myself as I still wandered the lonesome streets. I gave up quickly and stood, Glancing around to see my wandering got me to the edge of town near the woods. I quickened my pace wanting to get out of there as quickly as I could. 

I was almost out when a  soft growl made me stop in my tracks. I started to breathe heavily when i knew what was behind me. "Dear girl stop looking like i'm going to eat you" I heard a female voice and my pupils grew ten times larger. "Well, Don't be rude turn around" I obeyed solemly and turned to see a tall women in a short black dress, Her auburn hair flying in the wind. "What do you want" I spoke as rude as I could, The women's green eyes glowed with curiosity. "You are not afraid?" She walked closer to me, Her heels clicking on the pavement. "Nope. Now state what you want and run along" My deep blue eyes shown with humor, "Dear Harley. I was sent here. Now I see why" The women started to pet my hair softly "How do you know my name?" I stood there, Resisting the urge to slap her hand away. "I was sent to get you." Was the words she spoke before the women transformed. She turned into a dark brown wolf with the same green eyes. 

My eyes grew wide as she circled me. They grew even wider when she was a women again "Finally, Fear in your eyes" I swallowed and nodded softly "Who are you" I heard her laugh "It's not safe for a lonely 14 year old girl wandering the streets of New York" Her smirk grew wider "We've been planning your coming to the pack for a while." She changed again and lunged at me,  Jaws clamped my neck bringing me to the hard pavement. Pain shot through me, A strange surge of power came over my shaking body. The large brown wolf stood again as a women again. I looked at her, Tears streaming from my face as the pain was extreme. Before i knew it. Everything blacked out.
