In The ER

I shoved Jess into the car and had her call everyone to tell them what happened, Sage let her skip today so that's why she isn't at school. We said nothing as we drove to the hospital, I held back the tears that just kept building up as we sped down the deserted back roads.

"Is she okay?" Jess asked in a whisper like tone "Luke just said she survived, they don't know about the baby" Jess's eyes then looked like saucers, I had nothing else to say until we got to the parking lot of the emergency room "You go, I'll park the car" I practically leaped out of the car and rushed into the busy hosptiol "Lillian Knight" I said to the older recptionist who scruched her nose at me, she could tell I was a wolf "She's currently in the ER. Please wait over there" The women spoke as she pointed over to a cluster of seats after she sneezed, probably from my scent, birds didn't like us much.

"Harley" Luke's voice rang out from across the room, I scuttled over and brought him into a crushing hug "Tell me what happened" I said as I sat next to him.

"Lilly was just walking home when I heard a scream followed by a loud crash and looked out the window to see her unconcious on the ground next to an abondoned car" I made a face "You can stay with us until she's better" Becca would be mad at me for saying that, 'We don't need anyone else' she's said after her and Shane began to turn the basement into more bedrooms.

"You can! The attic is private and newly renovated" I said after he looked at the ground he gave a curt nod until Akiko, Kendal and Sage came into the room and was directed here "Harley" Kendal said as he brought me into a huge hug, Akiko gave a look of sorrow as she was one of Lilly's closest friends along with Sage. Both girls gave us hugs and sat down in the cold plastic chairs and said nothing to each other until a doctor who I recoicnized as a Cat came up to us "Lillian Knight family?" Luke looked up to him and shook his head "Close friends, I'm her fiancee Lucas Sheerwood and that's her sister Harley Knight" He shook our hands and motioned us up to speak with him in private.

I swallowed and looked at Luke nervously when the doctor sighed "The baby is fine but Lillian is not. Her leg is broken in two places, she has a minor concussion, brusied two ribs and her arm is also broken in three places. But because of the baby her healing process is slowed down as that energy is with the child's growth. She's unconscious as of right now but we will call you if anything happens" He offered us a warm smile and walked away.

I took a deep sigh and held the tears in my eyes to keep from falling, no one spoke, everyone else stood and followed us out the door for a quiet ride home.

"Our plan worked Kadi" She said when she got home from watching the family panic for the sister and unborn child "Kali and it was your plan" The vampire corrected her and she didn't like that, quickly Kali's face had fresh claw marks on her cheek, warm rusty blood seeping from the wound.

"Where's the mutt?" She growled at Kali who glared at her with burning red eyes "Tell me" She snarled and Alec made his way through the door, his scrawny body now looked like skin and bones as he whimpered.

She looked at her mate and shook her head before storming out the door "You've created a monster Alex" He twitched his ear "All your fault" Kali said to him before getting up and going to hunt. But before she did she 'accidentally' left the door open for the weak wolf to escape.

I was exhausted when I finally gathered myself from the tv which played a show my mother named Stacy and I used to watch before our relationship dwindled down to nothing.

Lilly spoke to Stacy once in a while but when offered the phone I refused and said I had other stuff to do. What happened? I could never explain it. It started before I changed, then worsened after it with the wolf provoking the built up anger that was buried deep inside of me.

I turned the tv off and walked quietly upstairs to where I heard a soft cry from the attic that hurt me. Luke. His wolf ached without his mate and he ached without her. I didn't go to see him, he needed to be alone. I entered the room to find Kendal on the bed with a laptop in his lap, I carefully sat next to him and laid my head on his shoulder.

"I can't imagine what Luke is going through" He finally spoke after scrolling through pages on the internet "It's worse when you have a mate. When you turn 18 the wolf becomes more aware to his or her surroundings. So when you find your mate, or 'the one' as humans tend to call it our wolves become attached. Mates can't survive long without each other. That boy Jess was with is her mate and Shane and Sage will be mates but the Pack doctor wolves take longer to see each other"

"Oh" was his only response as he closed the computer and slid under the blankets "Will you tell your mother about Lilly?" I scoffed at his question "Not unless Lilly is doing the call herself. Luke maybe but no I will not call Stacy"

"Your brother?"

"I have nothing to say to Tyler and Maggie" Maggie being his 8 year girlfriend he planned on marrying but never did. "Shane can make the call. I will not be calling Stacy and Kevin" Kevin being my father who had the strongest bond with me, it was just a bit better than the one with Stacy.

He moved my hand to my stomach and pulled us closer "Goodnight" His breath tickled my hair as he said this. I knew it wasn't true, that I would have a goodnight. Yet his words were enough and I soon found myself sleeping.
