Love In an Unknown Language (Pic of Shane)

We walked through the door to find Shane on the couch watching TV, Becca making soup and Hayley glaring at Kendal while giving Shane an ice pack. "He's here why?" Hayley hissed at me "He'd be safer here than at their house" I replied while Becca poured the soup "Hayley be nice" I smiled and Hayley turned away.

"I don't think she likes me very much" Kendal whispered to me.

"Ya, It's just that she doen't trust humans that much" I walked by Shane and sat on the other couch, Hayley left the room when Kendal came in. "How you feeling?" I asked Shane, he changed the channel on the TV and sighed "I'd feel better if you made me a sandwich" Kendal and I began laughing "You two really are brothers" Kendal smiled at me and I walked into the kitchen.

"So. You two have inside jokes already? When's the wedding?" Becca jokingly said.

"Come on. You need a place to sleep" I said, disregarding Becca's comment and walking up the stairs to my room "I'm sleeping in your room?" 

"No, Just need to get you pillows and such. Your on the other couch." I answered him as we walked into my room, Handing him a few pillows and blankets, the door slammed shut. I heard the door become locked and a stifled giggle from Becca.

"Damn it Becca. Open the freakin door. Now" I barked at her, Another pair of feet shuffled up the stairs "Harley. She threw the key and don't you dare break down the door" Shane spoke this time. "Well it seems that you have NetFlix, so uh movie?" Kendal interrupted my thoughts of what I was going to do to her when we got out.

"Sure" I half smiled and sat on my bed. "You can take the bed, I can take the floor" I sat on the floor before Kendal sat next to me "No. How about that one movie with Penguins. Or the one with the talking hedgehog" I shook my head and glared at the door "What if we have to pee or something?" I asked no one in particular.

"You have cups and boxes in here" 

"Food?"

"I saw an Oreo box on your shelf."

"Your enjoying this aren't you?"

"So Penguin movie then?"

I sighed and laid down on the bed, he laid next to me as he turned the penguin movie on "You really like penguins don't you?" He sighed as he pulled the blanket over himself, it was quite awkward since he was on one side of the bed and I was on the other "No. When I was 4 one bit me. I just like the movies" I laughed and heard feet coming up the stairs "Here" Becca slid a cookie under the door and then walked back down stairs.

Kendal stood and walked over to get the cookie. "There's a note attached" He cleared his throat and read it.

"Dear Harley and Kendal, sorry about locking you in but it was Shane's idea. He said it would good for the both of you, I'll unlock it in the morning. Love Becca" 

"I'm going to kill him" I said firmly after he finished the note and cookie. "Aw come on. He meant it in some way that only a Shane would understand" He laid back down on the bed and rolled over to look at me "So all Shane's have their own secret way of doing things?" He nodded and looked back at the TV for a moment "When Shane and I were little we made a secret language so our parents wouldn't know what we were saying."

I smiled "Say something" He nodded.

"Blurp de nard chu schnap" He said with a smile on his face. "What does that mean?" I asked, he rolled closer "That cookie was good"

My eyes blinked open to see the clock was at three in the morning. I felt a weight next to me and looked to see Kendal was next to me, not at the other end of the bed. My head was on his chest, his arm was wrapped around my waist, bringing me closer to him. "Hey. How about we replay 20 questions? Or at least questions until we fall asleep" I turned my head to see Kendal awake but with sleepy eyes "K" I simply replied.

"How did you meet Alec?"

I sighed and wait but eventually answered "When I first came to the pack, we were meant to be mates but I had always disagreed with arranged things. So I moved here with everyone. My turn. Tell me about you and Kali"

"Well, I met her last year and we were just friends for a while but one day I asked her out and it went on for about three months, Shane never liked her and now I know why. We never had dinner or anything so I broke up with her.And she's wanted me back since. Mine, um tell me about your life at home and school and stuff"

"Well I moved from Iowa to New York when I was about 7 and that's when I met Shane, we were best friends until I had to move again because of my dad's job. I was crushed but we kept in touch by video chat, texting and phone calls. I moved back to New York when I was 14 to a different part of New York, Shane and I now saw each other on the weekends and such since we were in different grades. I met Hayley and Becca and we became friends quickly, About that time was when I became Gifted. Lilly has always been quiet and Tyler has always been distant, Lilly met Luke in middle school and they were joined at the hip, after two years of being graduated he proposed. The wedding is in June and with it being not June they have been busy with wedding stuff."

I had never really told anyone much about my family or anything so this was new to me. "Just one more question. The future, what do you want to do?" I sighed at this question as I never really thought about it. 

"Well, I would like to be married with maybe a kid before or when i'm 25. And if that doesn't work out I'll just live here while everyone else is moved on with a family. I'd always been told that I was never the marrying type. So I figure I'll live with a bunch of fish or cats or something" He proceeded to pet my head.

"Strawberry will find someone. Someday. You never know, they may be right in front of you" I smiled at his comment but soon felt my eyelids growing heavy "Good night Kendal" I softly whispered.

"Night Strawberry." As I was dozing off I could've sworn I heard him say something,"Right in front of you. Always."

***Kendal'sPOV***

"Right in front of you. Always" I whispered in her ear as she fell asleep, I lay there and looked at her ceiling, reflecting the night. I smirked to myself with one thought in my head.

The words I said to her in Shane and I's language had nothing to do with a cookie.

It meant 'I Think I Love You.'
