"Not that one!" Shane snarked at me while I showed my white blouse and jeans for the supposed 'date' I had. "Why did I even ask you to come and help me?" I sat on the bed as he stood and was rummaging in my closet, "Why did you ask in the first place?" He questioned as he turned around, my Pikachu shirt in hand "Stop being such a nerd" He threw the shirt at me "Becca likes dresses, I'll be right back" 

Shane walked out of my room and into Becca's as I could hear him shuffling some of her many dresses. But he was right, why did I ask him?

I lay back on my bed and thought about it, Do I like Kendal? No. I can't. Do I? No! 

I continued to argue with myself until Shane came back with the dress Becca has been begging me to wear for ages, A blue cocktail dress. "Shoo shoo, Go try it on" He shooed me away with his finger.

I came back and I knew the dress looked fabulous on me as it accented my eyes but I sighed and sat next Shane "Kali threatened to tell him." Shane ran is fingers threw his hair like Kendal often does "Not unless we tell him first" 

"No!" I practically screamed at him, His eyes remained there same brown color and was about to talk to me when is phone beeped.

I stormed downstairs to where my biggest enemy was standing.

Alec.

"Harley wait, You may not want to-" Shane started before he got to the top step and saw me looking at Alec with such rage. 

"Go away Alec, Your on the wrong territory" I hissed through gritted teeth. He returned the gesture with a booming laugh  "You haven't changed much have you? Never afraid of anything. But I can smell it, your terrified right now. But not from me, From your little human mate." 

I don't know why but I was on the verge of tears, Is this why my emotions were so conflicted? I was afraid of breaking the Council's rules? Because I might be falling for him? I began to breathe heavily and started hyperventilating, Shane came to my side and told me to calm down.

Becca came running in in her Wolf form, Snarling and baring her teeth. 

Her dark brown fur was on end as we all Shifted quickly. Shane's russet accented fur shown as his teeth bared, We all knew he couldn't fight but Becca and I combined was still a good match.

 Alec just sat on the hardwood floor 'Just go Alec' Becca growled, her growl was growing louder as he turned to reveal the final blow I made to his neck the last we spoke, It never grew so it was a large scar.

'Just know Harley. I'll be waiting for when the Council demands our union' I took a step forward and snapped at his leg, Causing some blood. 'It's like I would ever listen to them' Alec Shifted and shrugged as he bent to my level "Good luck with your human" He smirked and walked out of the door.

"So what's for dinner?" I asked Kendal as we drove off to arrived our 'date' destination. "Fish sticks and Oreos" I raised my eyebrow as those were two of my favorite foods "Shane told me" He smiled as we started up a long rocky path.

"Okay so twenty questions" Kendal stated as he parked the truck, We were in a Posted area that over looked the city,  it was truly beautiful as the lights shown and the clear area made it perfect for any type of event.

"My parents bought it when they were still together and thought they could go on vacation and then the divorce and that's really why Shane and I were pressured to move to Cali" He said, He stuffed his hands in his pocket and led me to a picnic table.

"So twenty questions? Me first. Tell me about your family" He said as he took out the fish sticks from the cooler "Well, I have a younger sister, Lilly, and an older brother, Tyler, My parents are still together and living in New York. Lilly's here with me and Tyler lives in Canada with his girlfriend" I took a bit of fish stick and quickly ate it while he started his story.

"You know my brother and the rest of the story but the divorce was hard on me especially since I was so young, I didn't have many friends since I was that strange little boy. Always bullied for being different and being me. It's weird I tried to be different when I came here but it didn't work out, So I never really want to change." I smiled softly and tousled his hair "I like it natural" 

"You, Tell me about you" He said as it looked like he was really interested "I love blue, I love fish sticks. I play three instruments, Guitar, Piano, and Ukulele. Ya I know but it's cool to say you can play a Ukulele. I didn't have a lot of friends when I was younger so when I met Shane and Hayley and Becca it was fun to finally be open to people. I love to read. And that's about it" His expression stayed the same. "So now tell me about the secret you and my brother and Hayley and Becca are keeping from everyone."

I sucked in a sharp breath, Should I tell him? "It's complicated" I said as I started to twiddle my fingers. I opened my mouth to be cut off by a sharp growl "So your just not going to tell him?" I heard the voice of the man who I wanted to see least of all.

Alec.

I wanted to burst into tears the moment I saw his twisted face, "Who the hell are you?" Kendal asked Alec as he got up and stood in front of me. "Kendal. Meet the ex" I bit my lip and stepped up to Alec "Why now?" I whispered "I wanted the boy to see who his dear friend really was" He smiled and laughed darkly. 

"Please don't" I pleaded though the darkness in his eyes remained the same. He pushed me to the side and walked over to Kendal "So your the boy she choose? Interesting, Wonder what the Council might say to that." He came back over to me as I saw Kendal's confused look.

"Kendal would you like to know what your brother and his friends are keeping from you? Even your little friend over there" I fought the urge to Shift and kill him right there at his words, I knew what he was doing, trying to get me mad enough to attack. "Harley, doesn't that make you a bit mad? How about this?" He shifted and growled at us, I ran over to Kendal who's eyes looked like they'd pop out of his head. 

Suddenly he lunged at Kendal, I quickly Shifted and knocked him out of the way. Alec fell but quickly regained his balance as he snapped at me, We continued to circle each other, waiting for the other to make a move. 'Go back to New York Alec. Just let me be happy now.'  I growled at him as I leapt at him, my jaws clamped on his neck without biting. "Harley stop!" I heard Kendal shout behind me, I let go and watched as Kendal crouched in front of me.

"So this is the secret you and Shane and everyone has been keeping from me?" He whispered, I pawed the ground as if to say yes. He nodded and I shifted "Kendal" he just blinked "Why didn't you tell me?" I turned away to see Alec has disappeared into the coming darkness, The day was turning into dawn as I watched the sun going down.

"Ya, ya it is. I would have told you but I just. I don't know" I turned away from his gaze "I was 14 when I became Gifted, Shane became one of us seven years ago and Hayley and Becca when they were 16. Hayley, Becca and I aren't like Shane, he's trying to be a Healer so like a doctor in human terms. The rest of us do the hunting and fighting for the pack. I'm so sorry I never told you. I'm sorry Shane never told you. I'm sorry" I now felt the warm tears flowing down my cheeks.

He took his hand and cupped my cheek, bringing my head to face him "I wouldn't care if you had purple hair and had 6 foot wings" I blinked the some tears away as his hand moved away and brought me closer to him, I sobbed into his chest and took in his smell that now caressed me. 

Soon we were sitting on the bench as I faced the table as Kendal went off to do something. Soon I heard Lady Antebellum playing as I realised my iPhone was gone and now playing on shuffle, He came over and took my hand "May I have this dance fine wolf girl?" I stood from the bench and nodded as we shuffled back and forth while I stumbled and stepped on his foot many a times.  It was a perfect end to a disastrous day, I looked up at him as he leaned in. 

And kissed me.
