Chapter 37

The Demon’s Lair

The Demon paced inside the cave and thought of how the last human female filled his strength and the taste of her blood.  He still did not have the blonde female in his grasp and his chances for fulfilling his prophecy would fail without her.

“How am I going to capture her and mate with her if she is inside the village with the other humans?”  The Demon wondered.  “I have to find a way to lure her out to me so that I can capture her without killing her.”  The Demon paced some more but then stopped when he saw the cloth bundle under the far space of the cave.  He unwrapped the bundle and looked down at the small hybrid that he had hoped would survive.  The female he bred with is still alive somewhere in the village and inaccessible to him again.  He could try breeding with her again since he knew she could deliver, but the child was dead, so she must not be viable.

The Demon rewrapped the bundle and laid it upon his nest before starting towards the door of the cave.  The rock that was once there was smashed by him when the female ran away.  He felt that nothing would bother his lair, so he walked out and headed towards the village to find the female or the blonde.

It did not matter which one he took, as long as he has the opportunity to breed again before it’s too late.  The smell of humans was becoming stronger as he walked along the path and he saw a vehicle travelling towards him with a man driving it.  As the vehicle got closer, the Demon hid and watched.

When the vehicle stopped, it was a short run from where he was crouched down in the tree line.  The Demon watched the fat human step out of the vehicle and set a white stick on fire with a flame.  The Demon smelled the familiar smell of the burning stick and the sweet, sweaty smell of the human near him.

The human picked up a black square object and head it to his head and began talking into it.  “He is there now?  I am out near the south perimeter checking around the hills.  I will be back in a little bit…I don’t care what that gringo says, I’ll be back when I’m ready…Are you fucking kidding me Miguel?  You cannot handle a few gringos in our village while I’m gone?  Fuck man, you’re the goddamn mayor of the village…So tell them to kiss your ass or leave.  I’m finishing this up and then I’ll head back.  I’ll be about 30 minutes.  So tell them to wait!  Find your balls Mio, or does Maria carry those for you?  Haha.”

After the human put the black object into his clothes, he started walking away from his truck holding a firestick on his shoulder and the burning stick to his mouth.  The human would blow smoke out of his mouth as he walked and looked around.  The Demon slowly stalked the human as he made his way around a hill and towards the Demon’s cave.

The man picked up the black object again and held it to his head and began to speak again as he had before.  “I know he is there.  I know that Jagoe sent him…What do you want me to do gringo?  I realize that he said…gringo, stop being a puss, you have more rank but they have the money…Fuck you too, I know what’s important and what I need to do.  The weapons are loaded on several trucks and are placed around the village at each corner…I know that but it will help to grab them in any direction should the need arise…stop interrupting me gringo, my patience is becoming limited when you do that…yes, I’m aware that Ross is coming back.  He should be there by now…oh, so you have been told that Gallow is in charge and you are a gopher, as you put it…but that’s not my problem.  I am in charge of my armory and my weapons…I know that Jagoe gave them to me, but I paid a dear price regardless of what he says.  I’m finishing up here and I’ll head in and take care of this.  Don’t worry.  Head to the armory and gather a few men and run recon of the hills around the eastern section.  Have Martinez run the south and Franco the North.  If they see anything, call it in however small and let me know.  I’ll be back in thirty minutes.  Later.”
