Chapter 57
Desert
The helicopter fired a burst of gunfire at the men standing around and started to land in the outer area. A man in a suit, along with a man in khakis, stepped out of the aircraft and ran under the blades towards Gallow and Ross.
When they stopped in front of the two men, Gallow and Ross both snapped to attention and saluted. “Good afternoon sirs!” Gallow spoke quickly. Ross said nothing but just stared open-mouthed at them.
“At ease soldiers!” Jagoe said as he saluted back. “I see you got our creature, alive and intact. Very impressive Mr. Gallow. I see the motivation of lots of money is not lost on you still.”
Mr. Rice looked at both men with a sneer on his face and proceeded to walk up and shake hands with each man in turn. “Yes, very good job. Very impressive.”
The Boss walked over by the truck that contained the creature and saw a few bullets lying in the dirt below the creature’s torso. “Well, it seems that Mr. Gallow was good to his word and brought it in alive. I don’t see any damage at all. It does have blood on it but I see no holes so you get all your money.”
“Where by chance might my dear son-in-law be? I would like to have a word with him before we take our creature and leave.”
At that moment, Mr. Rice, Jagoe, Ross and Gallow all heard a shout from a nearby group of rocks. “Hey dad, this one is for Emily! Gallow, remember her?”
On Cameron’s shoulder was a rocket launcher pointed directly at the truck and creature. Gallow could only start to shout, “Noooooo….”
