I kept my bedroom door open in case my mom would need help with anything - again. Her voice is hoarse so she's having a hard time calling for me from downstairs so I opened it to hear her better.

Even from here I can hear the sounds from Cole's computer playing Call of Duty. Seriously, that kid never lowers his speaker volume. One of these days he's gonna be deaf.

I only realized I fell asleep when I was startled awake by scratching sounds and a sudden thump. I immediately sat up to check on it. Must be a cat or something.

My sight darted from something, or rather someone, and my eyes bulged and I was ready to scream when in a blink of an eye she was already in front of me and was blocking my mouth.

"Shh," she told me.

I still can't believe my eyes even when she already let go of me.

Regaining my composure, I asked her, "What the hell are you doing here?"

My eyes darted to my still open door and stumbled my way there to close and lock it.

"Reign! How'd you get in? What the heck?! You scared me! You looked like a freaking ghost just standing on the foot of my bed!" I whisper-yelled to her.

She looked at me and innocently answered, "Um... I came from your window. It was open and you were asleep so I came in without telling you. Sorry for waking you up and scaring you. I didn't mean it!" She looks really sorry about it and I felt bad for yelling at her. Even though I was only whispering.

"Well, okay. But why are you here? It's the middle of the night. Aren't you scared? You might get hurt or something." I motioned the bed for her to sit but I sat on the computer chair.

"I won't get hurt. But I wanted to see you and you weren't at the court playing ball which is so unusual because you're always there and I was worried so I came looking for you and then I--"

"Wait, wait. How do you know I'm always at the court playing ball?" I looked at her suspiciously and she blushed so hard.

"Um... Well, I wasn't spying on you!" she almost shouted.

I smiled at her denial which was so cute and funny because she's obviously lying.

"Don't laugh!" I didn't know she can blush any harder but she did.

I laughed anyway. "You're cute."

Her eyes bulged but the sides of her mouth pulled upwards. "I am?"

"Yeah. I think you are," I said with a big smile on my face.

I don't know why or how but this girl triggers something inside me. She makes me feel happy for some reason. And I think I feel warmth and adoration for her.

I heard a knock from my door and then mom's hoarse voice said, "Kyle? Are you talking to someone in there?"

Shoot! I signalled my hand to Reign so she won't say anything and she pursed her lips.

"Uh... Yeah, Mom! I'm on the phone!" I lied to her.

"Oh, okay. Well, Mr. Carter is here and asks for your help. He needs help pushing his car to his garage. It broke down,  I think."

"Yeah, okay! I'm coming!" I waited for her foosteps to descend before talking to Reign.

I came near her and said, "I'll be back, okay? Stay here. Don't move and don't make any noise. Alright?"

"Yeah. Okay."

I made way to the door. "Lock the door after I leave."
