I floor the pedal and make it to the pack house in a little over ten minutes. I note that my dad is waiting out front for me, flanked by some of our fighter wolves. I skid the car to a stop and scramble my way out, not bothering to remove the keys from the ignition.
“What happened? Somebody tell me what happened!” I bellowed, stalking my way towards the group. I know I’m probably having a wild look in my eye but it is justified.
I’m five steps from the group when Beta Dean steps to the side to reveal Natalya who had been cowering behind everybody else and I immediately zone in on her.
“You!!! What did you do to Arianna?!” I hiss, quickly making my way to her and shaking her by the shoulders.
“I…I… I didn’t do anything! Her family came to claim her back! I just brought her to them!” She defended, stammering every so often.
I halt at her words. “Family? What are you talking about?” I ask, my hands still clutching her shoulders tightly.
“She’s not who you think she is Caleb. She’s a liar and a smooth manipulator! She got you to believe her lies!” Natalya screeches.
“I repeat. What are you talking about?” My voice dangerously low. I was keeping my anger at bay for the sake of understanding what was happening.
“I… I… After our graduation last year, after I met Arianna, I went to visit my aunt’s husband and I kind of ranted to him about Arianna stealing you. Turns out, Arianna is his niece, my second cousin and—“
“She’s your second cousin? So you knew her from before?” I interrupted. Why hadn’t Arianna said anything?
“I remember seeing her when I was little but I hadn’t seen her since her parents passed away. She became this attention seeking, lying and manipulative whore and ran away from home. So I haven’t seen her since then. She looks different now too so I didn’t recognize her.” Natalya explains.
“She didn’t run away! She was abducted!” I seethed.
“Can’t you see, she lied! She’s nothing but a lying bitch! She just wanted your pity and you believed her so easily!” Natalya spat.
“No, she definitely didn’t lie about that. When I found her, she had injuries that she couldn’t possibly have inflicted on herself!” I growled into Natalya’s face.
“Well then maybe she ran with the wrong kind of crowd that did that to her. It was certainly nobody’s fault but hers, especially since she ran away to seek attention!” Natalya shouted back.
“No… You’re wrong. Arianna’s not a liar!” I bit back.
“You’re a fool Caleb! You have no idea how much pain she put her family through. Her brother’s been away for the last six years, looking for her! And her uncle’s been so worried and heart broken! She did this to them! She’s a selfish bitch!” Natalya yells.
“So what? You wait till everyone’s away, then you smuggle her out under our noses? Is that it!? If her family really wanted her back, they should have done it through proper channels! They could have come to us and talked about it. Not this way!” I shout back.
“Do you really think Arianna would allow her family to come get her? Do you think she will really tell you the truth? She would have done everything she could to get you to send her family away! She’s that selfish and evil!!” Natalya’s screech piercing the air.
“They’ve been searching for six years! They just wanted her back and probably get her to therapy or something. She’s sick in the head! And they didn’t want to give her an opportunity to run. So I just helped! All I did was get Arianna out of the house then they took her away. Simple!” Natalya continued to screech.
