Seeing Arianna huddle helplessly on the ground, I start to shake with fury. It’s times like this that I just wish that I had just marked Arianna. I would rather be weak from ArgentumMed than not have the ability to mindlink with Arianna.
Why oh why did I insist on doing it the right way?! I shriek internally.
Sweeping a glance at all the fire power on display around us, I feel like I’ve been kicked in the mouth. No way we could have put up any sort of fight. Compound the fact that we can’t even coordinate via mindlink feels like another blow to the gut.
“Well well well… I should apologise for hitting the wrong car.” A man dressed head to toe in the same army camouflage cargo pants and tight army green tee-shirt steps out of the trees towards Arianna and stops right behind her. I notice the two gleaming revolvers strapped to his thighs.
I growl in response, refusing to shift back into my human form.
The man raises his brows. “Aren’t you going to shift back, Caleb? You don’t mind me calling you Caleb, do you?” He smirks.
This time my growl is low and long.
“I meant to hit your car, not these shit heads.” The man says, gesturing at Nate and Blake flippantly.
“Oh wait.. I did hit your car.” He laughs as he studies the smashed Aston Martin with an amused glint in his eyes.
“What a waste of such an expensive car. Too bad you weren’t in it. We thought we had the right car since we had a visual of you and your mate with that Jap chick climbing into the car this morning. Damn the rain and the hoodies. Othewise we wouldn’t have made that mistake.” The man chuckles, as if he’s just said something funny and I seethe inwardly.
“Ahh.. But maybe this is better. We anticipated that we had to fight two warrior wolves and two alphas to get to Arianna. So we targetted your car to take four of you out. Let’s just take a moment to think… Two warrior wolves plus two alphas versus one beta, one gamma and two girls.. “
“Hmm… Which one should we take out, hey? Well hang on, it’s a no brainer, isn’t it? But alas, this is so much better.” The man grins widely as he studies the divide between himself, Arianna and Trevor to the rest of us.
“Oh Caleb. Can’t we talk man-to-man? All this growling is really not very civilized! Here, put this on then we can talk, hey?” He flings a pair of pink boxer shorts at me.
Huffing in frustration, I shift back quickly and drag on the boxer shorts. If he thinks he can degrade me by making me wear pink, he’ll be sorely disappointed. I’ve no issues with my masculinaty or sexuality.
“Man-to-man, huh? Why don’t we start with your name first? Since you obviously know mine.” I didn’t bother keeping the growl out of my voice.
“My name? I’m insulted that you don’t know who I am, Caleb. I thought I’ve made quite a name for myself as Alpha of the Blood Moon pack.” The man smirks.
“Ethan Brandt?” I blink in surprise.
He stretches his hands out to the side and proclaims, “The one and only!”
“What do you want, Ethan? This can’t be a border dispute. You’re too far from your land to want to take ours.” I hiss.
“Land? I don’t want your land. I want your mate!” Ethan says as he reaches forward to yank Arianna’s up by her hair.
Arianna yelps as she’s forced to look up, and it’s the first time I’m seeing her face since they managed to grab her from me. Seeing the tear tracts marring her beautiful face, I see red and unconsciously move to take a step forward.
