There’s a pinprick of silence as everyone is caught off guard by Sir David’s request.

“Why are you really here?” My dad asks sternly, his lips pursed into a thin line. “Why are you here, with two warrior wolves and with the intention of bringing in the rest of the Council?”

“If you think you can just waltz in here, with warrior wolves and the rest of your Twelve to take Arianna away to serve your own agenda, you can forget it. We may not have any ‘gifts’ or even reach the level of skills of these two warrior wolves here, but we will all fight – to the death if we must.”

“Alpha Winters, you misunderstand my intention–“ Sir David starts but gets cut off by a low baritone voice.

“We do not serve the Council of Twelve. And neither do we fight their…squabbles?” TOP’s strong baritone voice falters as he searches for an appropriate word.

“But you’re here because of the Council, are you not? So how can you say you do not serve the Council?”

“We are here because of Sir David’s missive to our General. Our duty only binds us to two things – the safety of the royal family and the prophecy of the red wolf. Other than that, the Council has no authority to command us to do anything or go anywhere. We will fight the Council if it means to protect the red wolf or the royal family.” Michelle explains, studying Sir David carefully.

“Please.. Let me explain.” Sir David implores, his eyes begging towards Arianna.

“Miss Ravensdale, I’m really sorry. It is not my intention to go against your command – not that I can. But it was just a matter of time before the rest of the Twelve found out, especially since I had to send a missive to General Lo.”

“As members of the Twelve, we do not have a leader. We as a collective are governed by democracy. It is also highly unethical for us to keep information and secrets from each other but I am commanded by Miss Ravensdale to not divulge this information so I have not.” Sir David hurries to say, knowing that Arianna’s supernova is growing exponentially towards explosion.

“But.. We do have a seer. Mrs. Kali Omehia foresaw this meeting taking place and had contacted the rest of the Twelve. So, they are on their way over. I believe four of them will be arriving at 11AM. The rest will be trickling in later throughout the day since they reside all over the world. Please… This is really out of my hands.” Sir David pleads, mostly towards Arianna and my dad.

Arianna sighs and nods, subtly telling Sir David that she doesn’t blame him.

“What do you mean you have been commanded by Arianna and that you can’t go against her command?” Gamma Mark asks, looking between Arianna and Sir David.

“Well, I do believe as the prophesized red wolf, Miss Ravensdale holds some power over the Twelve. Like an Alpha command to a pack member, I feel the same compulsion from Miss Ravensdale’s commands; except that it’s stronger – compelling. Unlike a pack wolf that can defy an alpha command and go rogue, we do not have that option. Maybe a more appropriate description would be – like a royal command, except that none of you understand what a royal command feels like.”

Another bout of silence envelops the room as everyone lets the words sink in.

“Did your seer mention the purpose of this…meeting?”  Beta Dean queries warily.

“No… Just that we are all to attend since she saw it happening. I’m sure there’s more but she wouldn’t divulge further until she arrived.”

“Very well. Since Arianna has the power to control the Council, there should be nothing to worry about.” My dad looks pointedly at Sir David for confirmation which he provides with a curt nod.
