"So Mel, whatcha doing tomorrow?"

I picked up my legs on my desk and rested my head sideways on my knees. This way I had a nice view of Jake's face without cramping my neck by turning it back left and right.

"What day is it tomorrow?"

"Friday." He replied and I internally sighed.

His voice was so nice. Ughhhhh.

"Hmmm. I don't think I have anything planned."

"Oh."

He can make a seven hour documentary on Hitler and I would listen to it daily. Not even lying.

"Why?"

"Uh, I was just wondering if you wanted to go out? I mean as long as you're not busy and all. Obviously."

Thank god we have a day off in Art today. Because I want to hear him talk fore-

Wait what.

What?!

"Uhhh, yeah. Yeah sure. Tomorrow's good."

Is he..? Did he just..? Did I just say..?

Oh wow.

Woah there.

"Perfect! So I'll pick you up at seven?"

"Yeah. Sounds great."

The bell rang and I quickly untangled my legs and grabbed my bag from the floor. I am going on another date with Jake. There's finally hope in my life.

~

"Hey sweettart?" I heard dad call as he knocked on my bedroom door twice and entered.

What was the point of knocking in the first place?

"Hey Daddy. What's up?"

"Are you going out tonight?"

"Yup. With Jake."

"Hmm. That's good. Has he made anything official yet?"

I walked in my closet and took out the outfit Sel told me to wear when I called her after school.

"If you're implying that he asked me to be his girlfriend, then nope."

"Really?"

I looked at him worried, "Do you think that's weird?"

"Not really. I mean to an outsider it might be a little bit. But I know you and Jake."

"Wait... What?!" I screamed cuz I couldn't hear him well. I was in the bathroom already changing.

He chuckled and continued, "You are different kids. Very unique actually. So I understand where he's coming from. And I definitely understand why you're afraid of jumping right in."

I came out of the bathroom with a small smile. My father was the cutest person ever.

"Hey dad?"

"Yeah?"

"You're the best."

He grinned and came up to hug me, "You know I love you kiddo."

"I love you too."
