22. Turning over a new leaf.

Emily's POV

As soon as Stephen noticed Cassandra he tried to come my way but I put my hand up and smiled at him. He knew I could handle myself and I wasn't going to let her ruin his time with his family.

"Let's go for a walk." I gestured for her to go ahead and Sandra helped me up.

We were a few feet away from everyone before she spoke.

"I think we should call a truce."

I laughed. "You too? What, are you and Andrea finally realizing I'm not going anywhere or is this part of another ridiculous scheme?"

She shook her head. "I'm just tired of fighting. I know that I need to set a better example for Mavs and I would just prefer not to be angry and resentful all of the time. Stephen made his choice and although that wasn't me I just have to accept it. As you would've if he chose me, right?"

I pondered for a moment. Would I have accepted Stephen's choice if it were Cassandra?

She smiled. "It's okay that you have to think about it and put yourself in my shoes. It actually makes me feel a bit better. I'm not psychotic just because I felt like I should be the one he's with."

"I don't want you to think that you're psychotic. I know that giving up your home and husband and surrendering your daughter to a complete stranger 80% of the time wasn't an easy thing to do. If I ever have to separate myself from the twins I don't think I would be able to stand it."

I was trying my best to be civil with Cassandra. I wasn't going to put my guard down, but I wanted her to see me as a reasonable and respectful person just in case she was being honest and showing a bit of kindness.

"If there's ever anything that I do that upsets you in anyway don't hesitate to talk to me about it. I want to turn over a new leaf here. I think we all deserve that."

I agreed with her and we made a bit of small talk before she went back to her table with Andrea.

I was walking inside to get some water when I felt two arms go around me. Stephen kissed my cheek.

"I love you." He whispered into my ear.

I turned around and he held me in his arms.

I placed my lips to his. "I love you too. But what was that for?"

He smiled and placed his forehead to mine. "You're perfect."

I laughed. "What's going on with you?"

He led me to the back of the house and opened a door. It was his room from when he lived here.

"Stephen!" I giggled as he pushed me into the room and onto the bed.

He started to kiss me passionately and was reaching for the buttons on my dress.

I pushed him away. "We are in your old room. In your sisters house.. We can't do this." I whispered.

He laughed and continued to place kisses down my neck.

"Stephen! I'm 6 months pregnant and your daughter is right outside." I exclaimed.

He ripped the buttons on my dress off. "Doctor said it was fine and my daughters dancing."

He took off his shirt and I couldn't resist. We made love like it was the very first time.
