Note: Now that school is starting for me in a week I won't be able to update all my stories every week. My plan when school starts is to update one or two stories a week, then update the other two the next week and so on. School this next semester will be busier than usual so I'm hoping this schedule will work.

Chapter 33: Never Been Hurt

But even if I lose it all
I've got so much left to give, I won't give up, no, no
My heart's on the front-line, I'm not afraid

I will love you
Like I've never been hurt
Run through fire for you
Like I've never been burned.
I'm gonna risk it all like I've never lost
Gonna give it all I've got
I will love you,
I will love like I've never been hurt.

“Dylan!” I laughed. “Stop!”

“Okay,” he laughed and stopped tickling me. We decided to buy a couple subs from subway and went to the park for a picnic. We finished our subs and both laid next to each other on the grass. When he stopped tickling me I laid on my back and looked up at the sky.

“I like that the paparazzi aren’t here yet,” I told me.

He reached over and held my hand, “Me too.”

“I hate that they follow me around all the time. Don’t they think people need privacy?”

He shrugged, “They need a story. It’s not an excuse for what they do, but some people get desperate.”

I sighed, “I wish I could stay here forever. Everything is so peaceful.”

“Are you scared about the world you’re getting into?”

“A little,” I admitted, “But only because I was starting to like my life right now.”

“You can just concentrate on your life right now, you know? I know you love music and you love singing, but you can put school as your first priority. The media is always going to be there, but you can take a short break, at least until summer.”

I looked over at him and smiled, “That’s a good idea. I keep trying to figure out what I’m going to do. My first album is released and I toured all summer to promote it, but what’s next? Do I quit the business? Do I release another album? I feel like there’s so much pressure to figure out the next step in my career.”

“Kayla, we’re still too young to know what we’re going to be doing for the rest of our lives. It’s okay not to have those answers yet. Don’t listen to what the media is saying; listen to what I’m telling you right now. You need time to live your life before you know those answers. Maybe that time is now.”
