Chapter 40: Warrior
“All the pain and the truth, I wear like a battle wound. So ashamed, so confused, I was broken and bruised,” I sang. “Now I’m a warrior. Now I’ve got thicker skin. I’m a warrior, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been and my armor, is made of steel, you can’t get in. I’m a warrior and you can never hurt me again.”
“Beautiful!” my manager said.
“What did you think?” I walked out and asked David. Dylan is currently spending time with his parents and Demi is working on more wedding stuff so David is the only one who could join me at the studio today; besides my manager obviously.
“You did a great job and turning the song country,” he replied.
“Do you like it?”
He nodded, “It was great. You really put a lot of emotion into the song and made it your own. The fans will love it.”
“Thank you,” I smiled.
“This is the second cover you’ve given them right?” he asked.
I nodded, “I’m trying to hint to them that I’m going country. Maybe after I post this second cover they will start figuring out the pattern.”
“So why not just sing country songs?”
I shrugged, “I listen to Demi’s music a lot and I want to pick songs that have a lot of meaning. Next week’s song isn’t a Demi one though; this week was just coincidence.”
He chuckled, “Sure it was. When is your first single coming out?”
“I don’t know,” I answered honestly, “We haven’t figured that out yet. I’m still in the process of writing songs so I would say it’s a good couple months away.”
“That gives you plenty of time.”
I rolled my eyes, “Can everyone stop with the subtle hints that I need to relax?”
“I’m sorry we’re just concerned.”
“But I’ve been a lot better since I got out of the hospital haven’t it?”
“Yes,” he nodded.
“So drop it.”
“I’ll try, promise.”
“Good, ready for food?”
He chuckled, “Yeah let’s pick something up on the way home. What are your plans for tonight?”
“I think I’m going over to Dylan’s house. He’s been spending time with his family because they’ve been on his case lately and they insist he stays there tonight. He didn’t want to so he compromised with them and they agreed that I could come over and have a movie night with them.”
“What’s up with his family anyway? He doesn’t talk about them a lot.”
I shrugged, “I don’t really know. I just think that they have a clear view about what he should be doing with his life and he’s not doing it.”
