Chapter 37: My Love is Like a Star

You can't always see me

But you know that I'm always there

When you see one shining

Take it as mine and remember I'm always near.

“Are you sure this is the right song to do a cover of?” My manager asked.

“Yes,” I told her again, “I know I’m going country, but I like the message of this song. I want my fans to know that no matter what I am, where they are, or what we are doing that I am always going to be there for them. I want them to know that I am still here in the music world. Besides, what better song to do than one of my future sister’s?”

She sighed and thought about it, “Okay, it’s your choice.”

“It is, you need to relax a little. You’re all stressed out lately and I’m just trying to have fun.”

“It’s my job.”

“No it’s not,” I told her, “It’s your job to manage me and to look out for me; to be there for me.”

“How’s it going?”

I turned my head and Dylan entered the studio. He smiled and wrapped his arms around me from behind.

“Hi,” I smiled at him.

“Hi,” he kissed my cheek, “Do I get to hear it?”

“Yes,” I nodded, “We just finished rehearsing it. We’re gonna try to record it all the way through if I can.”

“I’m here,” Demi said entering the studio too.

“Finally!” I laughed.

“I know I’m late,” she laughed with me, “but I’m here now. I can’t wait to hear what you did to the song.”

“Okay let’s get started,” My manager said.

I entered the booth while they started the music. It’s such a perfect song. It started out nice and slow and I just tried to enjoy the music. I have to remember that this isn’t a serious performance; this song is just for the fans. It’s my message to them that I am still here for them no matter what. I felt the deeper meaning of the song and poured my heart into my singing. I stepped out of the booth when I was done and Demi had tears in her eyes.

She pulled me into a hug, “That was beautiful. You sang it better than me.”

I chuckled, “Nobody can sing it better than you Dem, it’s your song.”

“You can!” she laughed.

Dylan put his arm around me, “She’s right; that was amazing.”

“Thank you,” I smiled at him.

“That was great,” My manager said.

“Did you get enough footage on the cameras?”

She nodded, “We filmed you rehearsing and recording so I’m sure he has enough to make the video.”
