Chapter 49: Believe in Me

I'm quickly finding out

I'm not about to break down

Not today

I guess I always knew

That I had all the strength to make it through

“STOP IT! HAVEN’T YOU HAD ENOUGH?!” I screamed.

It didn’t help though because I just received another blow to the face.

“WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU?!”

“You’re alive,” Damen spat, “That’s good enough.”

“HELP ME!” I screamed hoping someone would hear.

“Shut up,” Zack yelled and punched me in the gut this time.

For weeks now they’re been spreading rumors about me trying to ruin my reputation only for the school to ignore it then have me clear them up on TV. I snuck out of my house in a disguise to clear my head. My bodyguards have probably realized I’m gone by now and are out looking for me. This is why nobody wants me to go somewhere alone. As much as I want to be, I’m not a normal person. The one time I sneak out and Zack and Damen are waiting for me. I received a few more punches to the face before they pushed me to the ground and kicked me.

“We’ll warn you again,” Zack said, “We’re taking our lives back so don’t get in the way again.”

I coughed a few times but could not form any words to say to them. They were done with me for now anyway because they left me in the alley. I waited a few minutes before I knew they were gone and I stood up. I limped out of the alley and down the street. I cannot believe nobody heard me screaming. I finally made it back to my house and my bodyguards rushed out to me.

“We thought you were inside?! What happened?!”

I coughed again, “Call 911. Take me to the hospital or something. I’ll explain everything on the way.”

They helped me into the vehicle and I explained the situation on the way to the hospital. Because of my name I made it into a room immediately and the nurses began patching up my bruises while I got x-rays and cat scans done to make sure nothing else was wrong. My bodyguards called my parents for me along with David and Dylan to tell them what happened. To my surprise Demi was the first one to walk in.

“Kayla?! Oh my God what happened?!”

“What are you doing here?”

“David is finishing up filming for the day I told him I would come first.”
