Alaska woke up with a start to angry grunting and sounds of things hitting the walls and objects breaking.
''Luna, what is that?'' she said rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. Lambda, her Artificial Intelligence, manifested himself sitting on her shoulder. His soft golden glow adding to the light in her room.
''I have no idea. I believe we should investigate.''
''Alright.'' she climbed out of the bed and grabbed her pistol off of the dresser before proceeding sobbed the dimly lit hallway. She walked passed North Dakota, New York, and Washington's rooms before reaching the source of the noise. A crashing was heard again just as she walked towards the door, pistol ready . She peeked through the small crank in the door where a small beam of light peaked through where she briefly saw Maine walk pass the door.
''Maine?'' She opened the door and ducked just in time to avoid getting hit by his side table. She looked at the splintered wood on the floor behind her then walked forward into the room.
''Ah, Agent Alaska.'' Sigma appeared.''What brings you?''
''Are you serious , Sigma? Maine woke me up!'' She crossed her arms. Maine looked at her and growled.
''He had a nightmare.''
Alaska uncrossed her arms and walked towards the aggravated male freelancer. She understood exactly what he was going through. She had nightmares for a week after Lambda was implanted. They aren't just regular nightmares either, they have effects on your physical body.
''I wouldn't recommend that.'' Lambda said from inside her mind. Although, he wanted to see what would happen if Maine got angry but he would rather his partner not get killed. He still had so many theories that he wanted to test on her.
''I got this.'' She walked closer to the white armored freelancer.
''I highly doubt that.'' Lambda retorted. Alaska ignored him and concentrated on the problem ahead of her.
''Hey, big guy.'' She stuck her hand out to touch Maine, who was in the midst of punching a large hole in the wall. He stopped growling and simply stared at her.
''C'mere.'' she pulled him into a hug and he was tense at first before he calmed down. ''That's the thing about nightmares, they're not real.''
A soft growl escaped from Maine's throat. Alaska sympathetically looked to sigma for a translation. The red A.I stood with his arms behind his back.
''He says but it felt real.''
''I know, they normally do but i promise they are not.''
Another growl.
''Oh really?'' Sigma replied to his partner. ''Well, why do you think that is?''
Another growl.
''Hmm. That is quite intriguing.''
''what did he say?''
''He said for some reason he feels better and that he has never experienced this sensation of being hugged.''
''Oh.'' Alaska looked down at Maine who was very quiet for someone who just wrecked his own room. ''Tell you what, why dont you sleep in my room tonight with me. I could help you with your nightmares.Sleeping with someone else helped me out a lot.'' She smiled.
Maine looked up at her, a light pink blush upon his covered face. A questionable growl came from his throat.
''Yes, im sure. c'mon.'' She let him go and grabbed his hand.
''You can understand him?'' Sigma was surprised.
''Nah. i just assumed.''
''Interesting.'' the red AI replied as they walked back into Alaska's room. she yawned as lambda appeared.
''Hello brother.'' lambda, appeared in the center of the room and greeted sigma. Sigma walked to the Anubis and smiled.
''Brother, it is nice to see you.'' Sigma replied. ''It seems as if our partners will be sharing their sleeping quarters for the night.''
''I am aware.'' the AI's looked to the scene before them. Alaska was laying down in her bed facing Maine, who was standing up, confused and uncomfortable. He had never slept with anyone else. No one was even nice to him. They normally avoided him when he was angry.
''c'mon, you can sleep in-'' Alaska was cut short by Maine climbing in the bed with her and laying his head on her chest. He couldn't explain it but he felt safe for once.
''Hey, your helmet is cold , could you take it off?'' she shivered. without any objections , Maine quickly took off his helmet and placed it on the floor before laying back on Alaska's warm chest. he wrapped his arms around her waist.
''Better?'' Alaska asked wrapping his arms around his shoulders. Maine nodded. Alaska smiled and closed her eyes.
"Alaska? " Maine whispered. Alaska was startled by the sudden voice. It sounded very hoarse and shaky.
''Uh, yes?'' She said, still confused but knowing that it could only be Maine talking to her.
Thanks
''Oh, You're welcome.''
