Happy Birthday (All Freelancers)

''Happy Birthday Alaska!'' the freelancers screamed happily.

''Thanks guys!'' Alaska said from the front of the table . she was still in her fushia and black armor but had her helmet off. she had the side of her head shaved and her remaining hair in a ponytail resting on her right shoulder. atop her head was a brightly colored pointed birthday hat. she smiled while being surrounded by her friends.

''Gift time!'' north yelled walking to her right side and handing her a beautifully wrapped box in light pink and grey wrapping paper which matched her armor color.

''This is beautiful North! I kinda dont wanna open it.'' Alaska ripped the paper off. every began to laugh. York shook his head and chuckled.

''What?'' Alaska giggled while looking at her friend. ''I said kinda.''

Inside the box was a glistening silver personalized dog tag. On the front was Alaska's state name and her id number on the back was a large green jewel.

''Wow, North, way to earn some brownie points.'' York laughed as he patted his friend on the back.

''well, Al, do you like it? I thought it'll be like an allusion to your name.''

''Oh, i get it because they mine for silver in Alaska.'' Washington started. ''but i thought that gold was in Alaska.''

There was a moment of silence until everyone bursted out laughing.

''Nice of you to show your intelligence, wash.'' Carolina laughed.

''Carolina , hush.'' Alaska warned before turning to Wash who was behind her. ''No, Wash, you silly goose. my name is Jade and it's a shade of green.''

''Oh.'' wash turned red from embarrassment inside his helmet. ''right''

''Thank you North, its beautiful, I love it.''

''Anytime.'' North reached down to hug the female freelancer. ''who's next?''

Maine tapped her shoulder from her left side.

''Hey big guy.'' she turned and smiled at him. Maine handed her a long box wrapped messily in pink wrapping paper.

''Happy. Birthday.'' Maine grunted. Alaska opened the box to reveal a very shiny black and silver battle rifle.

''This is so cool, Maine. where did you find this?'' Alaska picked up the weapon to observe it better. There was a small messily etched drawing of the freelancer symbol on one side of the handle.

''Made it.'' Maine replied.

''Thank you Maine. this is incredible.'' Alaska wrapped her arms around his neck and squeezed him while placing a kiss on his helmeted head. Maine turned red behind hid helmet.

''Hey, Wash, what did you get her?'' The attention was turned on Washington who had his hands behind his back. He smiled because he was proud of his gift.

''he probably got her something last minute and stupid like a card or some flowers.'' South laughed . ''that seems like something he'd do.''

''and i'd like it either way.'' Alaska said smiling and turning to wash.

''well, i..uh..i dint get her anything'' he replied nervously.

''ha! even better.'carolina put her hed on the table and laughed.

''oh really?'' north raised an eye brow. ''then what is that behind your back?''

''nothing.''

''wash, what is it?'' alaska's soft voice echoed through his mind. washington shook his head defiantly.

''show.'' Maine growled.

''yeah im with Maine.'' Wyoming replied. ''show us.''

''fine.'' was walked forward and handed her a long cardboard box.

''wash? seriously? the box that our food comes in really?''

''i-im sorry''

''no biggie. let's just open it up.'' Alaska turned on the side to reveal that it was held together by duct tape. Alaska smiled sweetly at was before she took out her combat knife and opened the box. in the box was a bouquet of light pink flowers with a black rose in the center. Both North and Alaska's smile faded from their faces.

''i knew it. '' south laughed along with carolina.

''wash. Where did you get these?'' north leaned next to Alaska and placed his hand lightly on hher shoulder.

''oh, dear.'' Wyoming stood up and saw the flowers.

''what what is the problem/ they were native to her home so i thought they would remind her of it.'' wash said. Alaska sat with her head down silent tears sliding down her cheeks and dripping on the flowers.

''excuse me eveyone.''alaska stood jup, her head still low.''p-party on. i'll be back.''' she then left the room. Maine growled at Washington before following behind alaska.

''what? what did i do?''

''washington you idiot! her home was destroyed! Those flowers hold bad memories for her.'' south slammed her hands on the table before storming out.

''i-i didnt know.'' washinto hung his head down in sadness.

''i know you didn't wash. im sure alaska did too but it was a touchy subject for her.'' york patted his back.

Maine sat on Alaska's bed with her as she quietly cried. Maine reached and held her face with his hands while using his thumbs to wipe her tears away.

''no.cry.'' he grunted. alaska sniffed and looed at him. her eyes a red and puffy.

''i know.''

''hey, A-Alaska?'' Washington knocked on her door. Maine growled in response.

''but i need to talk to her.'' wash said. Maine growled again this time standing up.

''Alaska! please?''

''i-it's okay, Maine.'' Alaska whispered. Maine growled in confusion.

''yes, im sure. .'' Maine looked to Wash then back to Alaska. he growled in defeat then nudged her head with his helmet before leaving.

''Alaska, im so sorry. i didn't know.'' Washington sat down next to her.

''please forgive me.''

''im not mad at you wash. you meant well, it's just i couldn't handle that memory. I havent seen those flowers in years , where did you find them?''

''It wasn't easy. It actually took a month to find.'' Wash sheepishly rubbed the back of the head. ''I owe a lot of people some favors.''

''You went through all of that for me?''

''I mean, yeah, you're my partn-'' Washington was cut short by Alaska wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him into a hug.

''Thank you , Wash.'' She hiccuped into his neck as more hot tears ran down her face. Washington was surprised by the sudden hug and lightly patted her back.
