Best Friends Forever (North Dakota)

Alaska yawned and walked into the observation deck above the training room to see North sitting in one of the chairs with his feet up on the panel. He was wearing a dark purple t-shirt that said 'Project Freelancer' on it in white letters. He also had on black sweat pants and black slippers.

''North?'' She broke the male from his thoughts. He pulled his feet down and turned to face the female. Alaska was wearing a dark pink tank top with 'Project Freelancer' written in black letters and white highlights, dark grey sweatpants, and maroon slippers. 

''Oh, Hey, Al!'' He smiled. Alaska could see the cup of coffee in his hand. She wondered how long he had been up.

''What are you doing up?'' He asked, pulling another chair from beside him so that she could sit down. She accepted his invitation and sat down in the swivel chair.

''I should be askin' you that.''

''You first.'' 

''Ladies first.'' Alaska playfully said.

''Oh, you're such a gentleman.'' North laughed. Alaska playfully punched him in the shoulder. ''It's Theta. He's up, so I'm up.''

''Same here, Luna is driving me crazy.''

''Luna, huh? Still convinced that he's a wolf?''

''No! The name just stuck!'' She pouted knowing that he was going to keep bringing that up any chance he got. ''I know what he is.''

''Sure you do, Jade.'' He took a sip from his mug before offering Alaska some. she took the cup , took a sip of her own, then returned it.

''Is that South?'' Alaska said looking down at the training field below. South was fighting the training robots and she seemed to be lagging slightly. 

''Yeah.'' North took another sip of his coffee and sighed.

''How long this time? Four hours?''

''Try eight hours.''

''Whoa.''

''Yeah, when you beat her again, she wouldn't leave the training room. F.I.L.S.S has tried to get her to rest each time the simulation ends but she won't.''

''If it makes her feel better, I didn't wanna fight her.''

''No. Uh, I don't think that would have made it better.'' North laughed. ''She would have assumed that you felt you were too good to fight her.''

''Yeah, You're right.'' Alaska sighed. ''There's just no winning with her. I just hope she's okay.''

''She's fine. Just needs to blow off some steam. I'm more concerned about you.'' North rocked in the chair and took another sip of his coffee. Alaska turned to the brown haired man.

''Me? Why me?''

''You don't seem like you want to be here any more.'' 

''I do wanna be here, North..'' Alaska trailed off. She looked down at her hands.

''But?'' North raised an eyebrow.

''But nothing. That's it.''

''Uh huh. You're lying.''

''Why do you say that?''

''Im your best friend, remember? Ive been here since day one. I know when you're lying.''

''You mean Theta is helping you?''

''That too, but mainly you never make eye contact when you're uncomfortable and you're uncomfortable when you lie.''
