Chapter 5

"Good morning!" A cheerful voice said as the door to my room was pushed open.

I let out a groan, pulling one of my pillows over my face as the over head lights were turned on.

"Come on, Miss Scarlett, time to get up." Mary, my maid, said happily.

I groaned again, shaking my head. "Too early."

"It's half past ten, you have to be awake in 15 minutes anyways." Mary told me, followed by the sound of the curtains being pulled on all of the tall windows in my room.

"No too bright." I mumbled, sinking lower under the covers.

"Come on, appreciate the beautiful weather." Mary said happily.

I slowly looked out from under my pillow to see her opening up all of the windows.

"It's a new day, be happy."

"Can I just sleep all day?" I whined.

"I must admit, this is better than a seven year old you running wild through the halls at the crack of dawn, but darling, get up." Mary laughed, shaking her head. "Now go get in the shower so I can get you looking presentable for this evening."

I sighed, rolling out of bed.

"This is so much worse than getting up for school." I sighed, scratching my head as I stood up from the bed.

"I highly doubt that." Mary laughed, walking into my closet. "Hurry up! We don't have all day!"

I sighed, walking towards my bathroom.

I loved my room. It was huge.

Right when you walked in, there was a little sitting area with white couches, a coffee table, and a flat screen TV. Then up two steps was the level that the huge bed was on. My room had tons of shelves with pictures and things all over them. There was a balcony with huge french doors, with the rest of the wall lined with large, grand windows with white curtains, all looking out over the back lawn of the castle grounds to the forest.

It was absolutely breathtaking.

I walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind me.

I leaned against the door, closing my eyes for just a moment.

"No sleeping!" Mary called through the door, causing me to jump awake.

I reluctantly turned on the hot water and attempted to get the ponytail band out of my messy hair.

35 minutes later, I was sitting in front of the vanity mirror wearing a pair of sweatpants and an old t-shirt while Mary brushed through my tangled hair.

"You need a haircut." She told me with a laugh, trying to get all of the knots out.

"It barely reaches my waist." I shrugged.

"Well you can't wear it down to the ball, so what's the point?" Mary raised her eyebrows.

I shrugged. "I like long hair."

I heard my phone buzz on my nightstand. I gasped, jumping up.

"Miss Scarlett!" Mary exclaimed as I ran over to my phone.

I grabbed it and quickly returned back to my seat.

"Sorry!" I exclaimed as she resumed brushing my hair.

But a sigh escaped my lips when I saw that I didn't even have a text from Oliver... The notification was from my calendar, reminding me that the ball was tonight.
