Chapter 8
"Well you played great today." I grinned, tucking my hair behind my ear as I took a sip of my milkshake.
"Thanks." Oliver grinned. "It was a great game."
"I never really understood American football. It seems like there's a lot of time just standing around and doing nothing." I shrugged.
I was used to real football, which was the national sport of Castello. Even though we didn't even have a national team...
Oliver laughed, shaking his head. "You're so unlike everyone else at school."
I shrugged. "So I've noticed." I laughed.
"It's cute though. All the cheerleaders get boring with their over drinking and slutting around." Oliver shrugged.
"Isn't that the opposite of what a typical high school boy is supposed to say?" I raised my eyebrows.
"We can be abnormal together." Oliver laughed, nudging my knee with his.
I laughed, leaning back against the bench.
"So your friend Jessica was interesting." Oliver raised his eyebrows.
"Yea don't even get me started on her." I laughed, shaking my head. "She's been my best friend since I was born, but she is the most ridiculous person ever. She has no filter. It's hilarious during formal occasions when she whispers things in my ear about everyone that we're with, but she's not too good in public occasions with people that aren't loaded like her." I shrugged.
"So are you saying you are loaded like her?" Oliver asked in amusement.
"Oliver James, do I look like I go to boarding school in Hawaii?" I laughed, raising my eyebrows at him.
"Oliver James. So you're a full name kinda girl?" Oliver raised his eyebrows.
"Well I mean everyone else calls you OJ but that just didn't seem right and then 'Oliver' is like a four year old nerd's name." I admitted with a laugh. "So yea, you're Oliver James."
"Alright then, Scarlett Lockwood." Oliver smiled, setting down his empty ice cream bowl.
I laughed, shaking my head. "What's your middle name?" I asked curiously.
"Albert." Oliver grimaced. "It's after my great uncle or something."
"Oliver Albert James? Oh my gosh most adorable name ever." I laughed, shaking my head in amusement.
"Oh yea? And what's your middle name?" He raised his eyebrows.
"Adeline. After my grandmother." I replied confidently.
"Scarlett Adeline Lockwood." Oliver nodded.
"See my name actually sounds nice." I smiled.
"You look pretty nice too." Oliver said happily.
I raised my eyebrows at him.
"You see, in my head that sounded super smooth and sexy." Oliver nodded, his cheeks turning slightly pink. "And it came out as really lame."
I laughed. "It's fine." I smiled, nudging his knee with mine.
Oliver just smiled at me before looking down at the table, the grin staying on his face.
"Thanks for coming to the game tonight." Oliver said softly. "It was really nice to see you in the stands, completely on your own, giving everyone around you the most judgmental looks ever."
