* Lin's POV*

It's 5:30 by the time I finally get home from a long day of writing with my creative team. I open the door to my mess that I happen to call an apartment.

My parents watched over my son, Sebastian when I had to run to work. They've been so supportive ever since Vanessa's death, not even a year ago.

I walked in to see my mother on the couch rocking Seb, and my father in the kitchen finishing up the dishes from dinner. "Hello, hello, hello!" I say as I approach my mother and take my son from her.

"Oh, Lin! You're back early today!" My mother said as she got up to give me a hug and to adjust the blanket around Sebastian. I nodded contently and smiled. "Yeah, it went fairly quick today." I said as I walked around, gently patting my sons back.

My father finished the dishes and walked to me. "Hey, Pop." I said and placed my hand on his shoulder. "Thanks for doing those, even though you didn't have to." I said, grateful for the fact he did indeed do them. "Ah, son, it's no big deal. I made the mess, might as well clean it!" He said and let out a chuckle.

They left around 6:00, to head back to their own home. I was more than grateful to have them be so supportive and help me so much, but the truth? I knew that they were tired, and I can't blame them. They had their time to raise little ones, and now, they're practically raising mine.

By 6:30, I had given Sebastian a bath like I always do. If I'm not running late, of course. Our bath time routine always consisted of bubbles, lots of bubbles, rubber ducks, and some good tunes. Tonight, Sebastian decided he liked Elvis Presley.

After the bath, I dried him off and got him changed into his pajamas. His favorite are the ones with characters from 'Chuggington' on them. Once he was dry and changed, I scooped him up and headed to the living room. We plopped on the couch and watched some TV.

Almost to the end of some kiddy movie about a group of barn animals, Sebastian was fast asleep in my arms. I smile at the sight and gently scruff his hair. I decide to stay in the current position so I don't disturb him. I slide my phone out of my pocket and notice the time.

9:00 pm, it read. I rubbed my eyes and let out a sigh. "Geez, nine already?" I said quietly to myself. I unlocked my phone to check my emails, calls, texts, and social media platforms.

Email:
No mail.

Calls:
No missed calls.

Texts:
No new messages.

I sighed again and scrolled through twitter. I laughed at the occasional videos I saw, retweeted this, favorited, oh excuse me, now 'liked' that and so on and so forth.

By 10:00, I had decided it was time to get up and set Seb down in his crib. I lift him gently and quietly walk to his room. I set him down and tuck him in. I lean over and gently kiss his head. Then, I walked out of the room, slowly closing the door behind me, but leaving it open a crack.

Before I head to my room, I jump in the shower. It was my way of relaxing after a long day, or just a day in general. After my shower, with the perk of hot water, I towel off and get ready for bed. I pull my growing hair back in a pony tail, and brush my teeth. I throw on an old tee shirt and some boxers and head for my bed.

As soon as my head hit that pillow, my eyes felt heavy. I layed flat on my back and was just about to drift off when I hear my phone buzz on the night stand next to me.

I hit the home button and see the time and notification.

10:32pm, one new message.

I unlock my phone and tap on the message. I rubbed my eyes and read it.

*(P for Pippa, and L for Lin)*

P: Hey, I know it's late, but I just walked by the RR Theatre and you popped into my brain.

At first, I couldn't believe who the message was from.

P: Lin, I know you saw my message, your read receipts are on!😆

I snap back into reality.

L: Ah, Pip! Sorry! I was zoning. But, it's good to hear from you. It's been a while.

P: yeah! It has. But, how are you and Sebby?

L: We're hanging in there. How's apartment and job hunting going?

P: ... No luck. I think I just might move back to Illinois. 😕

L: Nooo! Don't do that. Here, meet me at Starbucks on Broadway and 54th tomorrow morning around hmm... 10 ish?

P: Sounds good! Night night!💤

Before I even read the message I was fast asleep, with a smile on my face. I've always felt something with Pippa, but I never acted on it. Whatever that feeling was, I was ready to see her tomorrow.

*Hey, hope you've enjoyed the first chapter! I'll most likely be updating everyday. Comment what you think and any feedback! Thanks! -Matthew.*
