*Narrative POV*

The world fell still. Phillipa had only been home for a short while, but she was back in the hospital.

Lin, Sebastian, and Mr. And Mrs. Soo, all joined her to be at her side.

Since she's been home, Phillipa constantly fainted.

With her father being a doctor, he knew this wasn't a good sign after and organ transplant.

As she was being rushed to the hospital by paramedics, she kept slipping in and out of consciousness.

Once they arrived, Phillipa was rushed straight in, a whole fleet of doctors surrounding her.

Lin, to his dismay, was pushed back and was told to wait. Those words, "to wait" broke his heart.

He had already endured the pain of losing a spouse. He couldn't face it again; especially not with it being his precious Pippa.

Noticing how distraught Lin was, Phillipa's mother, Sheila, walked to Lin and took Sebastian from him.

"Love, go call someone you love and trust, you need it.." she said to him as he nodded.

He pulled out his phone and called his best friend, Christopher Jackson.

The phone rung a few times before Chris finally answered.

"Hello?"
"Chris. It's Lin.."
"What's goin on man? You alright?"
"No. Pippa's in the hospital again. It's not looking so good.."
"Say no more. I'm on my way. I'll be there in five hours."

Chris had just stopped everything he was doing to fly across the country to be with his best friend.

These were truly the darkest hours of Lin's life.

He kept pacing, holding his head in his hands.

After what seemed like an eternity, which was only two hours in reality, a doctor approached from the corridor.

"The family of Phillipa Miranda-Soo?"

He called as The Soo's and Lin all stood up, blank expressions on their faces.

The doctor proceeded to guide them back to a private room to deliver the news.

"I'm sorry to inform you that Phillipa's transplant has failed. Her body is aggressively rejecting the organ..."

With those very words, Lin found himself clutching to Sheila's side.

"We're doing everything we can, she's currently on life support... as her family, it's your decision to keep her on it or not..."

The doctor left and let them have a moment to grip the reality.

"This isn't the end.. I'll talk to the doctors. Pippa is a fighter..." her father said in attempt to calm everyone down.

Lin's head was a mess. It had been suggested to him by Pippa's parents for him and Sebastian to go home and rest.

That's what he did.

When he got home, he opened to door to see none other than Chris, standing and waiting for him.

"Come here." Chris said before pulling Lin into a hug.

"Bro. I know this is hard. But it's not the end. Let's get your mind off things. I ordered pizza and wings and I have some beers. Let's watch the game and chill"

Lin managed to let out a smile and nodded.

As he sat down, he kept thinking of the news.

The transplant failed.

Nobody knew what was to happen next.
