"Where were you?" That's the first question Rahul had asked when I entered the room. Without paying any heed to his question, I took the puppy out of my purse, let him run through the aisle and to my room. I couldn't gamble having him seen by the hotel because they without any doubt would have caged him inside the cold iron bars. My puppy was too cute to handle all that.
To evade the consequence, I had sneaked him inside my purse with difficulty, owing to the fact he kept on squealing and flailing inside the purse.
I placed the purse on the table, not having any intention to view the mess he had made inside.
At last, I faced Rahul. He passed me an annoyed look and stated, "You were gone for three hours. The vet doesn't take this much time."
"Not you too." I stepped ahead and plump down on the sofa. "If I needed scolding, I would've never left." Winking at him, I snatched the remote and started changing the channels.
The space next to me dipped. "Look, since I was alone here for one hour. I thought deeply."
"You thought deeply? What happened to you?"
He presented me a dry look, and continued, "For a matter of fact, yes, I think deeply but that's not an issue here. Maybe you should give Harshit a chance."
The remote tumbled from my hands, and I gaped at his figure. The cute little noises were tarnishing in the background as I played his words again and again, and every single time they meant the same.
"You and I know it was his friends doing, not his. And maybe he still loves you."
"Oh trust me, he still does!" I got up from the sofa and started pacing back and forth. "Have you gone fucking mad? Harshit and me? Never. I don't love him and how could you even think that after what he did to me!"
"So you love Raghuvir?" He stood up. "The boyfriend you haven't cared to tell about your escapades. You don't even let him touch you. You don't even talk to him."
"What I do to him is not your concern," I accused him.
"Because you're not dating him. You're pretending to be with him to get your brother angry. There is one person who loves you and you're letting go of him."
"I'm letting go!" The puppy stroked his side at my right leg, but I overlooked it and paid attention to my erupting anger. "His friends made my video while I was showering and then blackmailed me to sleep with them, and I'm letting go of him? He said them nothing."
"You don't know it, do you?" He propelled back on the sofa and chuckled softly. I stared at him in confusion, but he only shook his head and smiled a bit. "He did nothing? Damn it, he fought for you and left them. He was the one who helped us to delete the video."
"It was Dhruv."
"Yes, but Dhruv needs to have an access to their phones too. Harshit did it."
My mind rolled from this new information, and I found myself sinking on the floor. It was refusing the entry to it, screaming to get out of my mind and let me in oblivion, but nothing worked.
"You're lying. Nobody told me."
"Because Kabir said us. Harshit said us. He left you because he hated himself."
"What about the anger you showed today?"
"I was acting. Do you really think I give a fuck about what people do to you? I would've let your video get viral." My hands curled on the top of my fist. He was lying. No matter how much we hated each other, Rahul would never stoop down to this level. "I hate you." He sat next to me on the floor. "But God doesn't love me and made you my best friend's sister. And I can't see him trouble and hurt."
