Kanan's P.O.V

Hera wrapped bandages around Ezra's stomach. Hera always carried a first aid kit in her purse in case of emergencies.. Luckily she had it for this unexpected turn of events for our little trip.

"Love, carefully pick him up," Hera told me and I did so. Ezra let out groans of pain in his unconscious state. "Sorry," I muttered to him and carried him bridle style. I held him close while me and Hera ran to the closest medical center.

We ran into the building and Hera led me to her office. She opened the door and I laid Ezra on the bed. "Kanan, I'm going to need you to wait in the waiting room," Hera told me firmly. I nodded my head and took one more glance at Ezra before leaving the room.

I sat in a chair in the waiting room, worried as ever. I was stuck in my thoughts and wondered, how much more Ezra could take with the world going against him every hour of the day. He doesn't deserve this kind of treatment, nobody does.

Over the years, I've seen wealthy people beat the living daylights out of the poor class. The wealthy class are the real monsters and criminals in this game of war are the government. They don't do a thing about this crisis and let the wealthy do whatever they want.

The poor class actually gets arrested for stuff that they didn't even do. Isn't this government supposed to keep the balance between the two classes? Now I'm starting to see how horrible the government is. I blindly believe that they were helping when they were the ones that made everything worse.

Then that battle that happened a couple days ago. Is that the start of another war? A spark of rebellion, by chance? But the real question is, who won? Which side is the best for society? Rebels or government. Which one will make things better and not make us the monsters that we don't see ourselves as.

I didn't know how long I was thinking for until I was pulled out of my thoughts. I felt a hand lay on my shoulder and looked up to see Hera. "Are you ok? You seemed to be in deep thought," Hera said worried. I put on a smile and told myself that I would think about this later.

Hera was already put to much stress into being worried about healing Ezra. Oh my stars, I forgot about Ezra! I stood up and asked, "Is Ezra going to be ok?" Hera smiled and nodded her head, "yes, he'll be just fine." "Can I go see him?" I asked and she smiled again, leading me to the room. We were standing outside the door when Hera told me, "he's sleeping, be quiet."

"Ok," I replied and she opened the door with a creak. We walked into the room and I saw Ezra hooked up to some machines. He was sleeping peacefully on the bed and was properly wrapped up. I grabbed two chairs and placed them next to the bed. Me and Hera sat in the chairs and talked while watching Ezra at times.

There was a moment of silence between the two of us. I was bothered by a question that I wanted to get off of my shoulders. "Hera?" I said watching the still body of the boy. "Yes?" She asked with wonder in her voice. "Which side would you pick, the rebels or government?" I asked, now facing her.

She seemed a bit surprised by this and it seemed like she needed to think. "Or, would you pick the poor side or wealthy side?" I asked. "Why are you asking me this?" She asked confused. I glanced back down at Ezra and Hera caught on to this. "Is it about Ezra?" She said. "Partly," I answered.

"Then what's the problem love? What's going on that your not telling me?" She asked worried. "My problem is picking sides," I started, "why does there have to be sides? I mean, people have been fighting over things cause of there status but fail to see that we are all the same." Hera was putting a lot of thought into what I said and for the first time, I stumped her.

"I don't know," she said, "maybe it's fear of the government and rebels but possibly, it could mostly be the war." I nodded in understanding and kept note of this. "Thank you," I said smiling. "For what?" She asked smiling as well. "For giving me an answer that can help me understand about everything better," I said.

Hera leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. "Your welcome, love," she said and looked over at Ezra. She gently combed her fingers through his hair and he leaned into the touch. Then Ezra's eyes fluttered open and big blue eyes looked around with curiosity.

"K-Kanan? H-Hera?" He croaked in a raspy voice. I held his hand in mine with a little squeeze. "Hey bud, we're glad to see you up," I said. Hera put her hand back in her lap and smiled softly at the boy.

Ezra was awake but I could tell that he was in pain. Hera grabbed some pills from a stand, "Kanan, can you help Ezra sit up?" I stood up and gently as I could to sit him up. Ezra groaned in pain but I got him to sit up. "You ok?" I asked him worried. I nodded yes then Hera came over with a glass of water and two pills.

"Take these and the pain will go away," she said giving him the water and pills. He took them and gulped the water down that he almost coughed. "Be careful," Hera said in a motherly tone. Ezra set the glass down and yawned. "Get some rest, alright?" I said and smiled. He closed his eyes with a smile on his face.

I looked over at Hera once he was asleep. She seemed to be in deep thought so I stayed silent and sat back down in my seat. Hera did the same and said, "There needs to be something done about this." I looked over at her, "Excuse me? About what?" "About our society," she said, "If someone won't do something soon, then we could be having a World War III."

"And who do you think this someone could possibly be?" I asked. She liked at me straight in the eye, "Us." I raised an eyebrow and was shocked at the answer. "If we don't do something now, then who will do it later, the rebels? The government? Society?" She said, really getting me thinking. "But the wealthy and poor classes hate each other," I said.

Hera gave me a 'really' look. "So you're telling me you hate Ezra cause he is poor?" She said. I realized my mistake and shook my head no. "Of course not, I would never but-" "but what Kanan?! If we can get along with someone from a different side then why can't anyone else too?" She asked interrupting me. "As you said before" I said with a blank expression, "They are afraid." Hera calmed down and didn't have anything else to say.

I squeezed her knee in reassurance. She put her hand on top of mine, "I love you." "I love you too," I said and kissed the top on her hand making her smile a bit. I let go of her hand and watched Ezra, wondering what our future is going to be like.
