Denial

   Robin's POV

I still couldn't believe it. It was Monday. Four days after that lunch room fiasco but I still felt I was in a dream. Eli couldn't have asked Annaliese to be his girl right?
Wake up, Robin! You had your chance. The small voice in my head screamed. I did have my chance. I blew it. I laid in foetal position in bed.
Would Uncle Ted let me skip school? I knew the answer was no so I didn't bother trying to ask.
There came a knock on my door. It was five o'clock.

"Who is it?" I grumbled.

"Robin, I know something is worrying you. Do you wanna talk about it?" I sighed. Flora had wanted me to open up and talk to her about Eli but it was just too painful. My heart broke when I thought of it. How could I form words to tell someone?

"Flora, I'm alright" she sighed dejectedly and I heard her footsteps receding. I couldn't go back to sleep and decided on a jog. I took out my new jumpsuit which my uncle picked for me and some Nike's.

"Where are you going?"

"I wanna go for a run, Stan. Is that alright?"

"Of course just hurry back before you're late for school" I nodded and stepped out of his view.  The sun was beginning to rise as I took the local trail. I pushed myself hard and made myself not think about Eli or Annaliese. I wasn't paying attention and I bumped into someone. How embarrassing I thought.

"Here, lemme help you" I recognized that voice instantly. With my hood on, I guess he hadn't seen it was me. My heart was beating faster as I extended my hand to meet his. I felt electricity in his touch and the air grew dense around me.

"Thank you. I have to get going" I brushed past him but he grabbed my arm.

"Are you sure you're alright? I'm sorry I wasn't watching where I was going" I turned to face him and he let go of my arm. I felt a stab of pain in my heart.

"Yes, I'm sure I'm alright and I wasn't paying attention to where I was going either" I said defensively.

"Robin, hi"

"Eli, hi " I mimicked

"Robin, I'm sorry."

"Don't be! I'm sure Annaliese is happy you love her. I knew you were lying on my doorstep Elidamus. Just leave me alone"

"Robin, wait! You don't understand."

"There's nothing to understand. I have to get ready for school" I said coldly to mask the tears that were forming in my eyes.

"Robin, wait!" I just kept running till I was a safe distance from him and saw he wasn't following me. I sank next to an oak tree and cried. My heart was constricted in my chest and my eyes were burning but I couldn't stop crying. I was gasping for breath and my head was hurting. I wiped my tears and got up. I promised Stan I wouldn't be late for school. I was too weak

"I was coming out to find you." Stan said after I entered. "Robin, what is wrong with you?"

"Nothing, Stan. I'm just tired I guess. I have to shower. See you in a bit" I dashed upstairs before he could ask my anything and went straight for the shower.
I came downstairs fifteen minutes later and found uncle Ted seated, sipping his usual morning espresso.

"How're you Robin?" I started to hate that sentence.

"I'm good, Uncle Ted. How are you doing?"

"I'm fine. Are you getting enough rest? You look paler than usual"

"I'm just studying for the decathlon, Uncle Ted. We've got a week more before the competition"

"Don't forget to sleep. You wouldn't want to falling asleep over there" Flora milk and I poured myself a bowl of Cheerios. I ate a bit hurriedly but the truth was ,I wasn't looking forward to going to school. I kissed my uncle's cheek and followed Stan out of the house.

Mace: meet me in front of the serpent statue
Me: what's wrong?
Mace:just do it, k?
Me: k. On my way

I waved goodbye to Stan who told me if it was boy problems, he could beat up the guy for me. If only it were that simple. I reasoned.

"Robin! Over here! " I saw Macy waving and I heaved my backpack and went to stand near her. A crowd was gathering but I didn't pay attention to them.

"Mace, what's going on here? Shouldn't we get to class before we are late?"

"Nope. We aren't going to be late"

"Where's Frederick? Is everything alright with him?"

"He's fine. I'm sure he's around here somewhere. Trust me" I sighed and stood next to Macy when I heard the girls "ooh" and "aah".
I looked at what everyone was looking at. A plane was flying ahead of us with a banner. I gasped when I saw the banner.
ROBIN ANDREA, WILL YOU DATE ME? FREDDIE.

Everyone was looking at me now. I saw Eli holding hands with Annaliese. Behind them stood Julian. He had a small smile and shook his head.
Frederick came out of the crowd holding a small box.
" so my lady, will you date me?" He went on one knee and i was blushing so hard. Everyone was waiting for my answer. I smiled.

"It would be an honour kind Sir" I bobbed a small curtsey and the crowd erupted in cheers. Frederick got up and opened the box. It had a Tiffany Key to my heart necklace. In front of everyone, placed the necklace on me.
"Now, everyone knows you have the key to my heart" He whispered and I nodded. The bell rang and we scrambled to get to our classes.
Somehow I had a feeling I wouldn't pay attention in my classes.
