"Bec, wake up or you'll be late,"
"Wha?" Beca murmured as she sat up in her bed and rubbed her eyes slightly. Her dad was sitting at the end of her bed with a warm smile, his business suit already on and greying hair combed neatly into place as usual.
"You're going to be late for school if you stay in bed," he stated as he stood up, "I made you breakfast but I have to go to work, your mum already left," he smiled again.
"You're ace dad, thanks. See you later, oh I might be later back," Beca said.
"And why might that be?" Beca's dad stuck his head back in the doorframe.
"Detention," Beca shrugged.
"Posen?"
"You betcha,"
"Ah, you'll be fine, see you later on then," he smiled again. Originally, he had been angry at Beca for getting detentions, but after learning about the petty arguments the pair had and how witty Beca could occasionally be, he let it slip. With a promise that if anything big did happen, Beca would have to tell him, she agreed.
Beca got out of bed and sauntered down the stairs to find a batch of pancakes waiting on the counter, still warmed, she smiled to herself and sat at the kitchen island and began eating before rising to get ready for the day ahead of her.

"Look Chlo, sorry they stuck you on detention watch for your first official week, I tried talking them out of it but they wouldn't have it," Aubrey Posen shrugged as she drove Chloe to Barden. The two had gone to college together and therefore knew each other well, the blonde was actually the reason Chloe got her job at Barden.
"Relax Bree, its fine, yesterday wasn't any trouble I got some planning done, it was good," Chloe smiled widely.
"Today may not be as easy, Mitchell's in," Aubrey grimaced at Beca's name.
"It'll be interesting I'm sure," Chloe smirked as the pair pulled into Barden and Aubrey parked her car in the parking lot. The blonde had told her lots of bad things about this Beca Mitchell, but she couldn't deny that she didn't see much snark in her when they met yesterday... Aubrey and Chloe got out and walked into the building side by side, chatting about the day ahead.

As Beca walked in through the gates of Barden she was joined by Fat Amy,
"Waddup shortstack," Amy asked in a thick accent as the pair walked side by side.
"What's with this shortstack business?" Beca asked with a slight frown.
"Nickname, I have one for most people... the hot brunette, call her legs. You're shortstack," Amy explained.
"Okay then," Beca shrugged as she reached her locker.
"We in any other classes together than just Math?" Amy asked as she peered over Beca's locker.
"I dunno, let's look at your schedule," Beca held out her hand and took Amy's schedule before checking it against her own.
"We've got Music together 2nd period with Mr Green," Beca stated, "That's it, Math and Music, oh and physical education but that's not today,"
"Damn, alright. Why'd we have to do that anyway! Well I'll see you in second then,"
"Everyone's made to do it I don't know why," Beca called as the blonde spun around and walked down the corridor.
Beca gathered the books she needed for the day and headed toward her Biology class to meet Jesse.
"Hey Becs, have you got your detention tonight?" he asked when Beca arrived.
"Yeah, sucks," she grumbled.
"Damn, at least it will give you a chance to maybe wind Posen up, I know how much you love it," he laughed.
"Yeah maybe, anyway why'd you ask?"
"Thought we could hang out," he shrugged.
"Another time," Beca nodded as the door swung open to reveal their biology teacher as she welcomed the class in. Beca smiled lightly at her as she passed through the door, finding Stacie in the corner, she'd always enjoyed biology, was good at it and it seemed her teachers always seemed to like her, giving her that extra bit of tolerance that other ones don't.

After class, Jesse followed Beca out into the quad where Stacie already sat on a bench chatting to Amy.
"Why are we out here it's like, freezing," Beca shivered, pulling her jacket further round her.
"Well that'll be because it's December," Stacie stated dryly, "it's nice though, not too cold,"
"I have philosophy next," Beca groaned.
"Skip it. You normally do," Jesse shrugged.
"I can't today, I already have detention tonight," Beca huffed.
"Oh yeah I got news about that, Posen's not on duty or whatever they call it," Stacie shrugged.
"Oh. Doesn't matter, I might be able to get out early then," Beca grinned.
"Who is taking it then?" Amy butted in to the conversation.
"I don't know, I just know that it's not Posen."
As students began to head into the school again, the group grabbed their stuff and headed indoors, Beca parted the group and trudged towards her philosophy class, she swung the door open and headed to a tucked away desk, scanning for one she huffed and made he way to a desk toward the back.

It was the end of the day and as students upped and left to go home, Beca strolled down the corridor towards her detention room. She still didn't know who was watching the detention. As she sat down she turned sideways and eyed a boy that was already in detention, he was staring out of the window.
"Hey," Beca called for him.
"Yeah," he turned around to face her.
"You know who's taking?" She asked as she gestured to the desk at the front of the room.
"No idea but if they take too long I'm leaving," the boy stated as he looked at the clock. The teacher was already a few minutes late. Beca simply shrugged in response and the boy turned back to the window.
It was 5 minutes later when the boy began to pack his stuff up, as he opened the door his head turned to Beca,
"Seeya around," he called with a small smile as he left. Beca gave him a nod and a smile before sighing, she could leave, the teacher was nearly 10 minutes late. She sighed, she would wait another few minutes before she got out of there, no doubt Posen would hear if she left and that would only get her into more trouble, she lay her head on the desk with a groan as she waited.
Suddenly bustling was heard as the door opened and someone hurried in,
"Better late than never," Beca sighed as she raised her head. It was then that they connected with the bright blue eyes of Miss Beale and the air was instantly sucked from Beca's lungs. The older woman gave Beca a pointed glare but sat down in the chair at the front anyway, brushing a lock of her ginger hair out of her face.
"I apologise for my lateness," She stated bluntly.
"D'ya get lost Miss," Beca teased.
"Maybe," Miss Beale hummed quietly. Beca simply laughed as she shook her head slightly.
"Just you?" The teacher asked.
"Errr, yeah," Beca decided to leave out that someone had left the detention early, even though though she didn't know his name anyway.

Silence had overcome the room and Beca had rested her head on the desk as she waited for the detention to end.
"Beca," she raised her head, "haven't you any work to do?" Miss Beale asked. Beca simply shook her head, before returning it to rest on her arms,
"Hold up, what do you know about me?" Beca asked.
"What makes you think I know anything?" Miss Beale questioned innocently.
"You knew exactly who I was yesterday and I know it wasn't my classmates, I haven't even introduced myself,"
"Lucky guess," Miss Beale shrugged.
"And you expect me to believe that?" Beca raised an eyebrow.
"So someone might have told me a bit about you,"
"Ugh, you're Posen's friend aren't you," Beca hesitated, "yeah it makes sense, Posen on her phone yesterday texting, you two chatting over lunch, detective Mitchell strikes again," Beca smiled triumphantly and the teacher couldn't help but laugh.
"Congratulations,"
"So what'd she say," Beca smiled as she leant forward and rested her head on her hands, generally interested.
"I'm not sure I should say,"
"Let me do the work, I bet I'll be roughly right. She told you that I'm... disruptive, that I don't do my work, that I try to be the class joker, that I go out of my way to get on her nerves and probably that I'm highly rude and disrespectful. But please, do tell me if I'm wrong," Beca smirked.
"Something along those lines," Miss Beale mumbled.
"Well how about this Beale, you forget what Posen said and wipe my slate clean. I can be a different person when I'm not around her y'know, I promise I'll be good," Beca winked with a flirtatious tone.
"I'll see,"
"Awesome," Beca smirked, "I'll try extra hard." Miss Beale simply hummed in agreement as she turned her attention back to her work and Beca glanced up at the clock.
"Oh hey, can I go?" She pleaded, it was only ten minutes early, Miss Beale also glanced up at the clock, contemplating,
"Sure, stays between us though, I want to get out as much as you do," Miss Beale smiled. Beca grinned and grabbed her bag, slinging it over her shoulder, as she approached the door she spun back. She approached the front desk and stuck her hand out toward the redhead.
"Beca Mitchell, pleasure to meet you," She grinned. Miss Beale hesitated but shook her hand with a laugh,
"And you," she smiled, "Goodbye Beca," she continued as the brunette walked out the door.
There was a giddy feeling in the redheads stomach after her encounter with the teenager, 'Aubrey didn't tell me she could be so hot,' Chloe groaned as she put her head in her hands and shook them slightly.
