It was Thursday afternoon and Beca and Stacie were in their final class, chemistry, doing practical work as they chatted aimlessly.
"What're you doing for christmas?" Stacie asked as she poured a substance into a test tube.
"Nothing I don't think, my cousins might come over but I reckon that's about it," Beca shrugged in response, "how about you?"
"Well I'm not sure, I think my moms been trying to book us somewhere to go but I don't know how that's working out," Stacie shrugged.
"Yes, give me a break," Beca prayed sarcastically.
"You wound me," Stacie grinned.
"How's Rex? Missing me as usual,"
"He's a nightmare as usual, and no," Stacie grinned. Rex was her little brother, he was a boisterous 12 year old and even though Beca had only assisted Stacie in babysitting him a few times, the two had struck it off. Turning against Stacie and teasing her relentlessly.
"I'm sure he does," Beca winked.
"Have you got tutoring tonight?" Stacie asked.
"Yeah,"
"How's that going?" Stacie queried.
"It's helpful, I'm getting better at interpreting the language he uses and writing about why and all that crap," Beca shrugged.
"Nice," Stacie smiled as the pair began packing their books away, patiently awaiting the bell as their teacher rambled on about what they'd done in that class. The bell rang and sighs of relief could be heard around the class as students rushed for the door, Beca gave out a laugh as she left the class with Stacie at her side before bidding her farewell as Beca steered toward her English classroom.

Chloe had once again pulled a chair up alongside Beca's desk and had her hair tied up in a ponytail to prevent it getting in her way. Her and Beca were once again working through questions as usual when a phone could be heard ringing,
"Sorry, give me one second," Chloe hopped up and searched for her phone in her desk, her eyebrows knotted in confusion as she realised who it was.
"I have to take this Beca, sorry," she turned to Beca as she spoke and put the phone to her ear, beginning to walk out of the room, "Babe, what's up."
Beca's ears pricked up as she heard Chloe answer the phone before the door of the classroom swung shut. Babe? Beca hadn't even thought about the possibility of Chloe dating someone, there seemed no presence of a man in her apartment so it must've skipped the brunettes mind. Beca sat with her pen flicking between her fingers as she waited for her teacher to return.

"Tom, you know I'm at school, what do you want?" Chloe had told her boyfriend to not call her at school, which is why she picked up this time, she thought it was important.
"I was thinking babe, how about me and you go away next week, somewhere nice," Tom's voice drawled through the phone and Chloe rolled her eyes.
"Tom you're tipsy I can tell, I'm busy now and busy next week you know that," Chloe sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration.
"But Chlo, you've been so checked out lately, I thought you'd want to spend some quality time together,"
"Tom, I can't," She spoke with frustration.
"You know what Chloe... Fuck you. If you don't even have time to spare for your own boyfriend then maybe you don't deserve one," Tom raised his voice through the line and Chloe ratted her hand in her hair.
"Tom, you've had too much to drink, we'll talk about this tomorrow, please, just stop," Chloe began, her eyes clouding over.
"I haven't had too much to drink, shut up. I'm out with the lads, and they say that I'm so fucking stupid to have stuck around. You've been neglecting me for too long Chloe and I've had enough, fuck you and you're shitty job, I'm done," Tom shouted through the line before he hung up. Tears began to roll down Chloe's cheeks as she lowered the phone with a shaky hand. This wasn't the first time Tom had gotten out of control when he was with 'the lads' and had too much to drink. Chloe had had to calm him down many times when he came to her apartment banging on her door.
The phone call she had just had confirmed a lot for the redhead. This had gone on for too long, Tom's alcohol problems had only escalated when Chloe joined Barden and their scheduled time together decreased rapidly. What surprised the redhead was how little she minded, but that didn't stop her heart from shattering slightly as his words and anger resonating just through the phone.

Beca lifted her head from her phone as she heard the door slightly swung open. She lifted her eyes to the redhead figure and her whole demeanour changed, Chloe was silent as she walked to her desk and slipped her phone in her bag, before taking a deep breath and looking up to meet the concern in Beca's eyes. She opened her mouth yet nothing came out, so she simply shook her head and picked up her bag, heading for the door. It was almost a reflex for Beca as she sprung out of her seat and soon grabbed Chloe by the wrist. The redhead stayed facing the door but soon shifted her gaze to the brunette. Beca saw how Chloe's eyes were slightly puffy and cheeks stained from tears as a weak smile cracked her features and she dropped her gaze.
"No way Beale," Beca spoke softly as she took the redheads coat from her with her spare hand. Beca lead Chloe to her desk and sat her in her chair, kneeling down.
"Don't move a bloody muscle," Beca spoke firmly as she ran out of the classroom.
She returned a minute later with a glass of water and gave it to the redhead,
"Drink," Beca urged as she watched Chloe down the drink and Beca fetched a chair to place opposite Chloe and sat down softly.
"That was your... boyfriend?" Beca asked softly and Chloe simply nodded. "Fucking asshole," Beca continued.
"Beca, you don't need to do this," Chloe spoke.
"Oh I do, I'm not letting you leave here upset," Beca shook her head with a small smile, "what happened?"
"He was, drunk," Chloe gave out a light chuckle as she tried to keep in the tears threatening to spill. "he said some, things... and I don't know, I don't know what's happening," Chloe laid her head in her hands as another tear rolled down her face. Beca's heart instantly broke for the redhead and rage bottled up for this boy.
"Hey, hey stop," Beca took Chloe's hands from her face and forced her to make eyes contact. The brunette could see the pain in Chloe's eyes and her gaze instantly softened.
"He's an ass Chloe, a complete ass. I don't know the context of this whole thing or anything he said but I can tell it was bad, and I can tell you don't deserve it. He doesn't deserve you Chloe. I mean you've put up with me for about 3 weeks which is awesome, you're kind, you're caring I mean you bloody let me sleep in your apartment when I was drunk," Beca cracked a smile, "you're far too beautiful to cry over this dick, he doesn't deserve you Chloe and if he can't see how amazing you are then I actually might believe he's blind." Chloe stayed gazing into the brunettes eyes even after she's finished speaking and saw the sincerity in her eyes and the expression in her voice.

The redhead's gaze flicked over Beca's face quickly as she realised she was seeing the brunette in a situation that caused her to strip back all her sarcasm and snarky exterior and reveal the sweet and sensitive person underneath and that warmed the redheads heart. Without thinking and without hesitation, Chloe leant forward and crashed her lips against Beca's.
As soon as their lips collided, Beca felt the same electricity that she felt when Chloe placed her hand on her thigh the previous week. The brunette felt Chloe's hand slide to the back of her neck as Beca's legs almost went to jelly beneath her. She never thought, even through the flirting the two endured, that it would come to this so fast. The kiss ended abruptly, when Chloe gave Beca a slight shove as she recoiled back,
"Oh crap," she uttered as she took in the shock present in Beca's eyes. The brunette raised a simple eyebrow at her and started to smirk slightly, Chloe shook her head before checking her watch. "I really should be going," she stood and hurried out of the class, ignoring Beca's call for her.
