Beca hadn't spoken to Chloe for a whole week after they had kissed, but not for lack of trying. Beca didn't want to have to have the conversation over the phone, yet at every possible opportunity for the pair to talk, something came up.
She was confused as to what situation the pair were in now, did the kiss mean Chloe was willing to try again? Or was it just a passing moment of weakness? Beca had realised, since her and Jackie broke up that she had in fact missed the redhead. It came into her mind that she was still hung up on her, that she still had that feeling of something more with Chloe, something more than Beca had felt with anyone else she'd been with. She was willing to fight for it, she was willing to try again because something inside told her that she should, she just didn't know what Chloe thought about their whole situation.
Beca huffed as she sat in her math class, tapping her pen lightly against the side of her face.
"My class not exciting enough Beca?" Mrs Posen said as she passed Beca's desk.
"Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it, you're starting to realise too," Beca joked with a mocking smile.
"Very funny," Aubrey drawled, "back to your work please,"
"Yes ma'am," Beca said under her breath as she turned her attention to the workbook in front of her instead of the spot on the wall which had become very interesting to her.Beca had almost finished the work that Posen had set, deciding to split the workload with Stacie and then transfer answers as neither could be bothered to do much work.
"Mitchell," she heard Aubrey bark from the front. She held her hand up to ask her to wait as she finished the question she was working on.
"Finished yet?" She heard the blonde huff.
"Yes ma'am," Beca smiled as she lifted her head.
"Good, Miss Beale needs to talk to you about your 'crappy English work'," Posen used air quotes to highlight the phrase with a smirk.
"Well damn me, better go and kiss the floor she walks on and beg for forgiveness," Beca smirked as she slid her book into her bag and glanced up st the clock. There were only 15 minutes left of class and although she had a free period next, she was aware that Chloe was teaching freshmen.
"Something like that might be a start yes," the blonde replied, "see you next week," she dismissed Beca and the brunette chuckled as she pushed the door open and slipped out, heading in the direction of Chloe's class at a brisk walk."Wanted to see me that badly that you pull me outta class?" Beca smirked.
"Well I know how much you hate Aubrey's class, I figured I was doing you a favour," Chloe joked, "no I'm just very busy today and tomorrow and we haven't really had a chance to, y'know," the redhead shrugged.
"Oh look at you getting flustered Beale," Beca laughed.
"I'm not flustered," Chloe rolled her eyes.
"Not even a little bit?" Beca winked.
"Fine, yes I am, just to please you," the redhead rolled her eyes once again.
"Yeah, you're good at doing that," Beca winked.
"Fucking hell Beca," Chloe laughed as she shook her head.
"You walked into that one Chlo," Beca laughed as the name for the redhead easily slipped off her tongue. She took time again to look at the way Chloe's blue eyes sparkled when she laughed, when the edges would crinkle slightly as she smiled and the way her cheeks blushed red at Beca's previous comment.
"You're staring Mitchell,"
"Eh, can you blame me?" Beca smirked, enjoying the way Chloe's facade cracked as she smiled, "now come on Red, we've already wasted 5 minutes, let's talk," she kept her smile as she moved to sit on Chloe's desk, facing the redhead."Why were you with Jackie?" Chloe asked, eyebrows scrunched slightly.
"Um," Beca thought, caught off guard by the question, "because she was interested in me, and she was hot," she laughed slightly.
"Yeah she must've been really interested in you when she cheated," Chloe joked.
"Yeah... maybe not the best way to describe it," Beca chuckled dryly, "and I guess Stacie was right when she told me Jackie was wrong for me. That I was just using her to get over you. I wasn't totally, but I felt a lot better after I met her," Beca shrugged.
"I'm sorry Beca,"
"Hey, it's fine. What's done is done and all," Beca laughed.
"So what happens now?" Chloe asked.
"I think I should be the one asking you," Beca grinned, "are you willing to give us another chance?"
"I was always willing, I was just scared to start off with," Chloe laughed.
"I get it Chloe I do. There's so much at stake for you, but I'd never do anything to jeopardise your career, at all." Beca shook her head to emphasise her point.
"I know you wouldn't," the redhead smiled in return, "I trust you, surprising," she joked.
"And I have my sexy Camaro now, and graduation is much sooner than it was at Christmas, then we don't have to be so scared," Beca smiled.
"Oh well how can I deny you and your sexy Camaro,"
"So we're on?" Beca smirked.
"Oh we're on," Chloe laughed as she leant back in her chair.
"No labels?"
"Do you want labels?"
"We'll see how it goes," Beca smirked.
"Well that was sorted in an extremely short time," Chloe joked.
"Yeah I was fully prepared to break down crying dude, all that for nothing!"
"Oh I'm so sorry," Chloe rolled her eyes."Did you think it would come to this? I mean, last year did you think that we'd be together again before graduation?" Beca asked.
"It was inevitable," Chloe smiled.
"Inevitable." Beca nodded with a grin. She could hear the shuffling of feet outside the door and glanced to the clock, although she had a free period next, she knew Chloe's class would appear in a few minutes. "Sounds like there's about to be a rampage, better get going," she smiled.
"Yeah, freshmen are my favourites," Chloe rolled her eyes as she got up.
"Oh I bet," Beca chuckled as she went to collect her bag, slinging it over her shoulder. "Bye," she smiled as she pulled Chloe out of sight of the door and placed a swift kiss on her cheek, she pulled back with a wink before walking out.
She left Chloe with a wide smile as the redhead shook her head and murmured to herself,
"Inevitable," she smiled and went to her door, welcoming the few freshmen into her class, a feeling of relief and comfort washing over her as she realised that her and Beca were together, again, and she wasn't going to let her fears get in the way of what could turn out to be, love.A/N:
