6 weeks: At School
Paul walks me to my third class as usual. He kisses me goodbye and we see each other in lunch. After that, he walks me again to my class and he drives me home after school. That's how it's been almost everyday now. It's something I am still not use to but it is really nice.
It's Wednesday, so time to go to see my baby for the first time ever. School went very fast today. Paul is driving, which means a 10 minute drive of Beatles/Rolling Stone songs.
We finally arrive, and we head inside.
"This is so weird," Paul whispers. I give him a slap on the arm and sign in. "Okay, just sign these papers Widow and the doctor will be with you." the nurse says.
I just nod and sit next to Paul. He keeps starring at the girl with the 8 month belly siting alone.
"Paul, please stop starring at her. You look like a creep." I whisper.
We wait and wait until finally my name is called."Okay, just take off your bottoms, and wear this rope. The doctor will be here soon, any questions?" the nurse says.
I say no and go to the restroom. I take off my pants and underwear and put on the rope. Paul is siting down on the doctor's stool chair, "Hey, what if I become a doctor? I look good siting down here huh?"
"Wow, you really are weird." I say as I sit on the bed.
"Are you nervous?" he asks.
"A little, I cant believe I am here. I cant believe I am pregnant." I answer.
Paul chuckles, "Yeah same here buddy. But I know everything will turn out good, don't worry Wid." He gets my hand and smiles.
"Kiss me," I say.
He gets up, and kisses me. He makes me relax which is weird cause my heart is going 100 mph. He pulls away, "The doctor is coming."
The door opens and the doctor introduces himself.
"Hello, I am Dr. Macias, I am here to check on your baby and discuss your options on which obstetrician, the doctor who will be delivering the baby, to choose. I am only here to see how the baby is doing. Okay?" he says.
I just nod. "Okay, get your legs up here and we can get started." Dr. Macias says.
I feel awkward being half naked but whatever.
"Okay, this might feel a little cold and weird but don't worry it's only for this time." Dr. Macias says.
"Oh gosh, it is cold." I say. The thing is inside me and moving around. Paul gets my hand, "Relax."
Dr. Macias fixes something in the monitor then I hear something. "You hear the beat? That is your baby's heart. You definitely are expecting." he says.
I do hear it as so does Paul. He gets his hand tighter into mine.
"Pump, pump, pump." the baby's heartbeat is going quick but Dr. Macias says it's normal.
"okay, see the little blinking in the middle of the screen?" he asks, I nod, "That is the baby. That's the heart pumping."
My heart feels the baby's beating, and it feels like nothing I felt before. So much joy is spreading in my body, like fireworks. Paul kisses my cheek, "I guess you are crying cause of happiness." I turn to him, he has a big smile on, I simply nod.
I look back at the screen, "So is that it for now? That's my little baby?"
Dr. Macias smiles, "Yes Widow, that is all for now." He gets up and asks basic questions. Before he leaves, he asks if I want a picture of the baby, even though it is really small. I say yes.
