Divergent Love

Chapter 23

"What do you want?" I ask angrily. Tobias pulls me back before I run at him with my knife. I wonder if he would like it if I stabbed him in the eye with a butter knife.

"My brother..." He breathes heavily. "Isn't acting the same as he used to."

"How?" I ask gritting through my teeth. "He's exactly like you!"

"No, he used to tell me everything." He stutters. "What have you done to him?"

"He transferred Peter." Tobias says. "He would have told you everything before because he was Candor."

"Yes maybe but you guys know something that your not telling me and that he also isn't telling me." He groans.

"Yes, we do know something." I say looking to Tobias. He gives me his look that I know means I can continue telling him the truth. "His girlfriend died because he dumped her after announcing that he would be the father of her child which she was pregnant with."

"He was with a girl in that way?" Peter asks shocked. I nod. "Who was she?"

"A girl from Abnegation who also transferred here. Her name was Charlotte."

His face turns angry.

"AN ABNEGATION?" He yells. I pause fighting back tears in my eyes before walking forward to him ready to fight.

"Peter why do you hate Abnegation so much?" I shout back. "What have they ever done to you?"

"BECAUSE THEY REJECTED MY SISTER!" He cries.

"Your sister?" I ask.

"I had an older sister she was 6 years older than me." He begins. "She transferred to abnegation, she failed initiation and was made to become factionless."

"How did she fail initiation?" Tobias asks.

"Their leader, Marcus Eaton had a thing for her. He fooled around with her and because she was selfless she went with it." I look to Tobias. He doesn't show any emotion. "I think his wife had just passed or something and he felt lonely. He had a son a couple years younger than her."

"What was her name?" I ask.

"Marina" he whimpers

"How do you know this to be true?" Tobias asks angrily.

"What?" He asks confused.

"How do you know these things happened between Marcus Eaton and Marina?" Tobias asks. I don't know if he is about to scream or cry his tone is so unpredictable.

"A year before I chose she sent me a letter telling me to meet her in the factionless sector of the city. I went as i was curious and I wanted to see my sister." He clears his throat. "The sight of her scared me. I ran to her with tear filled eyes and screamed at her, what's wrong with you what's happened? She fell into my arms crying and sighing finding it really hard to breath. She told me she was starving, that she has been starving for 5 years. She was so skinny, in tattered clothes, no shoes. This was not my sister. Then I sat with her, we talked she told me everything. How Marcus mistreated her and then forced her to leave. Everything. Then suddenly her heart gave in and she started to have a fit. I screamed her name, trying to wake her but it was useless. The last thing she said to me was the Abnegation are nothing but evil, they act weak and pathetic but they really are nothing but filth. Never trust them, never like them. You know where you belong."

"This makes no sense." I say.

"It's true. Believe me. I hated you because...." He stutters.

"Because of what?"

"You reminded me of my sister, and how your faction was the one who killed her!" He yells.

"Peter...Marcus is a terrible person but the rest of them are not." I reassure him. "We... I mean I, may not be one of them anymore but trust me I know my old faction. They are not like this!"

"Well maybe there not.... But I don't care." He yells!

"That isn't hard to believe, your a cold hearted asshole who cares about nothing but himself." I cry. "I hope you die a miserable death because that is what you deserve!"

I walk away pulling Tobias after me. We storm out the room and go back to our apartment. Once we are in and the door closed. I turn on him.

"You remember anything?" I ask him. "About your father and his sister?"

"No...maybe? I dunno Tris!" Tobias says back.

"His sister was with your dad!" I proclaim.

"I know... Do you not think I'm kinda freaked out?" He shouts at me.

"Why are you yelling at me?" I shout back.

"Because your blaming me for Peter hating you!"

"I'm not!" I protest

"Tris calm down!"

"I should calm down?" I say. "Your the one shouting!"

"I'm shouting at you because your getting it wrong and don't know anything!" He shouts at me.

"I can't deal with this Four!"

"Four?" He asks. "Don't use that name to hurt me Tris!"

"You have no right to yell at me!"

"Maybe I don't but neither do you!"

"Seriously we both need to calm down."

We both turn away from each other and breath. I walk away from him and go into the bathroom. I don't know how long I stand in there alone before the door opens and I look up into the mirror and see his strong muscles. He is topless and only wearing his black jeans. He walks up behind me, puts his arms around my body and kisses the inside of my neck. Then he pulls away and whispers in my ear.

"I'm sorry." He whispers. "I shouldn't have shouted at you."

I turn into his arms and place my hands on his hips and he pulls me into his chest closer.

"I love you" he says. "More than anything in the world."

I smile and kiss him slowly on the lips.

"I love you too" I giggle.

"I love you three" he smiles.

"I love you Four!" I say. "Not again?"

He laughs and kisses me firmly on the lips. I don't know how long we kiss but we don't stop, we make our way to the bed and we both lie down.

"Tris, can we start a family?" He asks.

"Now?" I ask. "I thought you wanted to wait?"

"I don't want to wait any longer!"

And we decide to begin our family, well we try to. After, we fall asleep naked in each others arms. Our bodies tangled into one under the douvet.
