Once my family had claimed all our baggage, we made our way out of the airport and were immediately hit by the overwhelming heat. Palm trees bordered the entrance of the airport and fountains were placed all around us, the water sparkling in the sunlight.

"We have two whole weeks of this everyone, let's make sure we make the most of it!" my mum exclaimed in excitement.

As soon as she said that, the coach arrived that was to take us down to the south east of coast of the island, to a place called Cala D'or, where our 2 week adventure would begin.

The coach was packed full of excited families and the whole atmosphere of the journey was brilliant. People were laughing and talking about how much fun they were going to have, and discussing all the exciting things they had planned.

Me and my family began talking about how we couldn't wait for our first meal in our favourite restaurant, the mestral. The garlic bread and pizza there were the best thing I have ever tasted and I couldn't wait to have a meal there again. We have been coming to this resort almost every year of my life, and it was definitely my favourite place in the world.

We also planned on going to all of the beaches around the resort, and decided we were going to hire out a car to explore some of the island. I could hardly contain my excitement at the thought of two whole weeks here.

As the coach arrived in Cala D'or, I could hardly sit still. I couldn't wait to have my first swim in the pool at the apartments, and go down to the nearby beach to swim in the beautiful Mediterranean sea.

The coach seemed to take ages to get to the apartments, dropping off families all around the resort until it finally got to our destination; but it was worth the wait. The coach pulled up outside the Cala D'or Playa Apartments and the driver read out our families surname, announcing that we had arrived.

We all jumped off the coach, collected our luggage, thanked the driver and walked into the cool and marble floored reception area. It was a relief to get out of the intense heat, and from the reception we could clearly see the pool area and everyone already having a brilliant time. The receptionist happily told us that our room was ready and it was on the first floor, overlooking the gardens; so we picked up our bags and excitedly walked to the room.
